Kimberly Curry joined the Georgetown men’s basketball program in May 2010 as the team’s academic advisor. Curry came to Georgetown after five years at Columbia University, most recently serving as Director of Enrichment Services. Curry served as the director of student-athlete career development and services the previous four years. In that role, she was responsible for all day-today operations for enrichment services and studentathlete programming, including career development. In June 2006, Curry, a former Ivy League studentathlete, was the first person to serve as Columbia’s director of student-athlete career development and services. In that position, Curry assisted Columbia’s more than 800 student-athletes on a variety of issues and topics, including letter and resume writing, networking, interviewing and presentation skills – among other important areas related to securing meaningful career opportunities. Curry, a 1996 graduate of Princeton University and a 2004 graduate of Columbia University Teachers College, was a four-year letterwinner for the Princeton women’s basketball team. During her senior season at Princeton, she was named team captain, and earned the Herbert W. Hobler ’44 Award, presented annually to the Tigers’ women’s basketball most valuable player. In 1996, Princeton established the Kimberly Curry Award in her honor, presented annually to the women’s basketball player who best exemplifies teamwork and dedication.

Bill Howze is in his second year as a member of the Georgetown men’s basketball staff. He joins the Hilltop after teaching at Friendly High School in Washington and serving as a basketball coach at the University of the District of Columbia. A native Washingtonian and a long-time fixture in local prep basketball circles, Howze was also an assistant coach at Marymount University and at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Prior to that, Howze was the head boys’ varsity basketball coach at Archbishop Carroll High School, guiding the Lions to a 30-25 record, from 2004-06. Howze, who taught United States history, world history, psychology and sociology at Archbishop Carroll, guided the varsity basketball team to its first winning season in four years in his first year at the helm. His team improved its record by 10 wins in his first season and recorded a semifinal playoff finish in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. He developed five Division I basketball players in his two seasons as head coach at Carroll. Howze served as a social studies teacher and assistant varsity basketball, baseball and golf coach at Archbishop Carroll from 1995-99. He was the top assistant for the nationally-recognized basketball program, plus he helped establish the school’s golf program in 1998. Howze was nominated for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in 1998. Throughout his 15-year prep coaching career, Howze coached more than 50 players who continued their playing careers in college, including Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje who played at both Georgetown and in the National Basketball Association. Howze, who has nearly 20 years experience as a coach and professional educator, held social studies teaching positions at Jefferson Junior High School in D.C., High Point High School in Beltsville, Md., and at St. John’s College High School in D.C., before returning as a social studies teacher and head boys basketball coach at Archbishop Carroll in 2004. Howze earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Maryland in 1994. He and his wife Shirelle have a 6-year old son, William III.

OTHELLA HARRINGTON

Asst. Director of Basketball Operations Othella Harrington joined the men’s basketball staff at Georgetown in May 2011. “Othella is a Hoya coming home to help teach the newest generation of Hoyas.” Thompson said.”He brings a wealth of experience accumulated on and off the court over his career. His dozen years in the NBA in addition to his four years as a starter here at Georgetown will be a major asset. I’m excited to welcome him back to Georgetown.” Harrington (C’96) is Georgetown’s all-time leader in offensive rebounds with 393. He is fifth on Georgetown’s all-time scoring leader list with 1,839 points, fifth on the career blocked shots list with 201 rejections and fourth on the rebound leader list with 983 boards. Drafted by the Houston Rockets in 1996, he also played for the Vancouver Grizzlies, The New York Knicks, the Chicago Bulls and the Charlotte Bobcats over 12 years in the NBA.
