Summer is just around the corner, and we want to help you make the most of the season in our beautiful community. You can stay hydrated and active by exploring the walking trails in our parks or by enjoying a classic family picnic at one of our many playgrounds. Dow Park’s splash pad and pool remain fantastic ways to cool down, and our various sports fields and pavilions are ready for everyone to enjoy.

We are especially excited to introduce two brand-new additions to our community, the Jimmy Burke Activity Center (JBAC) and the Ella & Friends Dog Park! The JBAC offers a premier venue for your event rentals, while the new dog park provides a dedicated, fun environment for your four-legged friends to socialize and play.

This summer is also the perfect time to host your own celebrations, and we encourage you to rent our facilities for your next birthday party, reunion, or gathering. Whether you are interested in a shaded outdoor pavilion or the modern amenities of the Jimmy Burke Activity Center, our spaces are available to help you host an unforgettable event.

About the City Council

The Parks and Recreation Commission is a City Council-appointed committee that acts as a liaison between the constituents and the Parks and Recreation Department. Photo Release Statement

Deer Park Parks and Recreation frequently videotapes and photographs participants enjoying our programs, special events, parks and facilities. These images are used by Parks and Recreation and the City of Deer Park in publications, on the web, for television/cable promotions, or to use as is seen fit. The images are used at the Department’s discretion and become its sole property.

Cancellations & Refunds

IF PROGRAM DOES NOT MAKE: Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a program does not meet the minimum, the program may be canceled and a refund or account credit will be issued.

IF A PATRON CANNOT MAKE A PROGRAM: Cancellations by customers made five (5) business days prior to the start of a program will receive a refund. If a cancellation is made after the five (5) business day deadline; a credit will be added to the patrons account in lieu of a refund. Refunds/credits will not be issued if the PARD office is not notified of withdrawal at least 24 hours or 1 business day (whichever is greater) before the start of the program. Refunds/credits will not be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance. Under special circumstances, refunds/credits may be issued outside of these guidelines. Patrons are asked to contact the PARD office in these circumstances in order to obtain refunds/credits.

HOW TO CANCEL: Cancellations can be requested in person, by phone or email to the Parks and Recreation Department office, however written cancellation via email is preferred. Please send cancellations to recreation@deerparktx.org or to the PARD staff member you are working with. To request a cancellation by phone or in person, please call or visit the PARD office Monday – Friday from 8am until 5pm. This advanced notice is required for all programs, regardless of the number of days they are held.

A $25 flat fee for all dispute charges processed through our registration system regardless of dispute resolution.

Remittance Returned Unpaid

Deer Park Parks and Recreation will assess a $30 fee for any form of remittance returned unpaid, including but not limited to returned or dishonored checks and bank drafts. This fee is in place to recover the administrative and processing costs associated with handling non-sufficient funds (NSF) or other returned payments. Any individual or organization submitting payment that is later returned by the financial institution for any reason—such as insufficient funds, account closure, expired credit/debit cards, or stop payment—will be held responsible for the additional charge. Continued submission of returned payments may result in suspension of program participation, rentals or facility access until the balance is resolved in full.

Public Pool Safety

As temperatures rise and families head outdoors to cool off, water safety becomes more important than ever. Public pools, like the one at Dow Park, offer a fun and refreshing way to beat the heat, but they also require awareness and responsibility. Swimmers of all ages should understand basic safety rules, including never swimming alone, following posted guidelines, and recognizing their own swimming abilities. Parents and guardians should always keep a close eye on children, even in shallow areas, and ensure that young swimmers stay within arm’s reach.

At Dow Park Pool, safety is a shared responsibility between staff and visitors. Lifeguards are trained to respond quickly in emergencies, but they should never be the only line of defense. Swimmers are encouraged to take breaks, stay hydrated, and use proper flotation devices if needed—especially for those still building confidence in the water. It’s also important to be mindful of pool surroundings, such as wet surfaces that can lead to slips and falls, and to enter the water feet first.

By practicing good water safety habits, everyone can enjoy a safe and memorable summer at Dow Park. Whether you’re swimming laps, playing with family, or simply relaxing poolside, taking a few simple precautions can make all the difference. Join us at the Dow Park Pool for an Aqua Fitness party like never before. This is not your typical water workout! Shake, shimmy, and sizzle in the water as we create some heat — Aqua Fitness style! Aqua Fitness is a safe, effective, and challenging water-based workout that integrates dance, cardio, and fitness philosophy ALL in one dynamic workout.

AQUA AEROBICS BY CHELSEA

Invigorating for all ages and abilities. The water’s resistance will increase your strength, the buoyancy will decrease impact on your joints, and the energy used will burn the calories! Stretching, strengthening, and aerobic phases are included. Everyone enjoys this workout as they work at their own pace.

DIVE-IN MOVIE

Join us for a movie by the pool! Bring a blanket to lounge on the deck or your swimsuit to take a dip. Flotation devices are allowed but must be see-through. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). No dinner will be served — only vending machines are available, but feel free to bring food. No alcohol is allowed inside Dow Park Pool. To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we will be watching Captain America: The First Avenger (rated PG-13). Limited to 300 patrons; tickets go on sale when summer programming opens. A pool membership does not grant access. 50 tickets will be sold at the door, first come first served. Pool rules apply while the movie is playing — Coast Guard–approved life vests or arm floaties must remain within arm’s reach of an adult at all times.

StarBabies is a swim program for infants that introduces them to the water alongside a parent or caregiver in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. Caregivers learn techniques to help children float, submerge, move in the water, and roll over to breathe while building essential water safety habits. Classes include songs, activities, and guided instruction to promote confidence, bonding, and early swimming skills. Parents must be in the water the entire lesson.

Make a splash with your little one in our StarTots swim class! Designed to build comfort and confidence in the water, this program allows children to learn and explore alongside a parent or guardian. Through fun, engaging activities, students are introduced to essential water skills that create a strong foundation for future swim success.

DAC GROUP SWIM LESSONS

The Starfish Swim School program builds essential swimming and water safety skills for preschool and youth students, with a strong emphasis on self-rescue. Through guided instruction, participants develop confidence in submersion, body positioning, air recovery, and coordinated movement in the water. The program also teaches age-appropriate safety habits, including asking permission, using lifejackets and flotation devices, and practicing survival skills like treading water and floating. Classes are divided into Preschool (ages 3-5) and Youth (ages 6-12) divisions.

Ahoy matey! Join us for a swashbuckling adventure filled with pirate training challenges, crafts, treasure hunts, and games. Come dressed as your favorite pirate and search for hidden treasure with your crew!

NEXT LEVEL SWIM CAMP

This class is designed for youth swimmers with previous experience in basic freestyle and breaststroke swimming. We will be focusing on stroke development and endurance — class will be swimming laps. Swimmers must be able to swim without assistance

MERMAID UNIVERSITY

This is your chance to experience what it’s like to swim like a mermaid! Mermaid University puts safety first, starting our mermaids-in-training with basic swimming skills before transitioning into the monofin. Instructors will teach safe fin use and proper breathing while swimming. Swim sessions incorporate movement skills, fitness, pool entries and exits, dolphin dives, spins, turns, and of course mermaid games. All this excitement builds up to learning choreography, and a final day with costumes, mermaid makeup, and a photo shoot. (Mermen are welcome to sign up too!)

PRIVATE POOL PARTY RENTALS

Our fifty-meter pool and children’s pool area are available to rent for private parties on a limited basis. It is a perfect location for company parties, birthday parties, family reunions, or church functions. All rentals are subject to the availability of Deer Park certified lifeguards and managers. Renting the pool guarantees space for a private pool party, not necessarily private pool space. Groups of more than 15 people can request to use the Dow Park Pool during normal operating hours. Group requests must be made at least two weeks in advance to ensure proper staffing. A group request does not guarantee a reservation or reserved space. If your group wants to reserve the patio, please make a reservation with payment. You don’t have a “Long Way to Go” to reach our “Enchanted” Dow Park, where you’ll be “Hypnotized” and feel like you’re living in your “Dreams.”.Concert begins at 6:30 PM—be there for an unforgettable night of classic hits and magical energy!

DEER PARK’S FOURTH FEST / AMERICA’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY

Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary at Deer Park’s Fourth Fest on July 4, 2026, from 5:00–10:00 PM at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center—an evening filled with community spirit, patriotism, and family fun. This free event features live music, aerialist performances, delicious concessions, arts and crafts, face painting, a stilt walker, a 9-hole LED putting course, and a cornhole tournament with check-in at 4:30 PM. The highlight of the evening is Deer Park’s Star-Spangled Salute: 250 Years of Freedom Honoring Our Hometown Heroes. This celebration is a patriotic musical revue beginning at 5:30 PM that honors our local service members and celebrates the values that unite us. During this special performance, we will proudly recognize our veterans and active duty service men and women, paying tribute to their service and sacrifice, and presenting gifts to those who have served our country as a token of our deep appreciation. Aerialist performances will take place from 6:00–8:00 PM, followed by live music from the John Barraza Project from 7:00–9:00 PM. Guests can also enjoy a special Veterans Tribute Slideshow, featuring photos submitted by the community in honor of those who have served. Community members are invited to contribute by submitting photos of veterans using the provided QR code—help us make this tribute truly meaningful. The celebration concludes with a dazzling fireworks display at 9:15 PM. Bring your family, your pride, and your love of country as Deer Park comes together to celebrate 250 years of freedom in red, white, and blue.

SUMMER TRACK AND FIELD

The summer track and field program begins on June 1st. The team competes in the Gulf Coast Track Circuit with 2 to 3 optional local meets weekly, including Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) competitions at regional and state levels for both beginners and serious competitors. Practices and events can occur up to 5 days per week. A calendar will be provided in June. Meets are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday; practices are on non-meet days. No two days are alike!

Get ready to represent your favorite NFL team in our Summer NFL Youth Flag Football League! Open to boys and girls ages 6–8, 9–11, and 12–14, this program brings the excitement of football in a fun, non-contact format. Practices will be held M-F beginning July 6th, with games kicking off Saturdays starting July 18th at the Dow Athletic Soccer Fields. Practice time and day will be determined by your coach. Each participant will receive an official NFL Flag team jersey and flag belt. Child’s age is determined by January 1, 2026.

Registration closes June 26th, 2026 at midnight, with the player draft on June 30th to which only the coach needs to attend. Interested in coaching?

1ST ANNUAL SUMMER PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT SERIES

Join us for our 1st Annual Summer Pickleball Tournament Series in the Dow Active Complex! Each tournament will feature doubles play (any gender) with matches played best 2 out of 3 games. Winners of each tournament will receive a prize and earn points toward the overall series standings. The top 5 finishing teams in each event will earn points, and the duo with the most points at the end of the series will take home the Grand Prize. Entry is $40 per team per tournament. Teams do not have to enter each tournament to receive points toward the Grand Prize. Grab a partner and compete with us this summer!

ADULT SOFTBALL LEAGUE (SUMMER II)

Deer Park proudly presents our thrilling adult softball leagues at the Adult Sports Complex! For Summer II, enjoy seven weeks of doubleheader games followed by an exciting post-season tournament (weather permitting). Tuesday Co-Ed Recreation League: $450/team; Wednesday Recreation League: $475/team; Thursday Recreation League: $475/team. GULF COAST SPORTS CHALLENGE

Get ready to compete in the Gulf Coast Sports Challenge, a multi-sport competition designed to bring co-workers and friends together through fun, fitness, and friendly competition. 12 companies will have the opportunity to showcase their skills across a variety of sports while enjoying an exciting atmosphere filled with teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit. Whether you’re competing to win or just looking to be part of the action, the Gulf Coast Sports Challenge offers a great experience for athletes of all skill levels.

INCLUSIVE IMPACT CREW

Join our adaptive, inclusive volunteer program where youth of all abilities help package and deliver meals and companionship to homebound seniors. Volunteers will help package meals and deliver them alongside a staff member to our homebound seniors. Through this program, young people gain confidence, empathy, and a sense of purpose, while seniors enjoy meals, connection, and friendship. Together, we build a stronger, more inclusive community — one meal and one smile at a time. Please pre-register as we will only be able to host two volunteers per day.

ADULT SOAPMAKING

Students will learn the steps and ingredients for safely making their own cold-process soap. Each student will be able to choose their favorite fragrance and colors to create their very own bars of soap that they will get to design. Students will also learn how to create their own soap at home with easy-to-source ingredients!

Roscoe Recommends diving into art projects at any age because creativity is something everyone can enjoy and benefit from. Whether you’re painting, crafting, or building something new, art encourages self-expression, reduces stress, and boosts problem-solving skills. SOAPY SPONGE MAKING CLASS

Learn how to make soap-infused sponges with nourishing vegan soap base — just like the ones sold by high-end retailers for upwards of $20! You will be able to choose your favorite fragrance and colors to create your very own Soapy Sponges to make and take home. You will leave the class with the skills and knowledge to easily recreate your own Soapy Sponges at home! You will be able to make 3 sponges to keep or give as a gift.

ANYONE CAN PAINT – POOCH EDITION

When we say Anyone Can Paint, we mean it! So bring your fur babies so they can create a beautiful painting for their hooman to show off. All pups must be on a leash to participate.

With ‘We’re Going Fishing,’ we handle the transportation and Williams Party Boats furnishes all bait and tackle for a 4-Hour Bay and Jetty Fishing trip within 5 miles of shore. Potential catches: sharks, redfish, black drum, trout, whiting, gaff top, and catfish. The biggest catch will be the great time and memories. Ages 17+ must have a valid fishing license with saltwater endorsement. All fishing regulations apply.

RENTAL POLICIES

To ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable experience for all guests, the following policies and guidelines apply to every facility rental listed in this brochure. These standards are designed to protect both our visitors and our spaces while helping your event run as seamlessly as possible. We encourage all renters to carefully review the information below prior to making a reservation, as it outlines important requirements regarding booking procedures, payments, responsibilities, and facility use.

By securing a reservation, the authorized contact person agrees to comply with all policies and assumes responsibility for ensuring that all guests and participants adhere to these guidelines throughout the duration of the rental. Our team is committed to providing clean, well-maintained facilities and excellent service, and your cooperation helps us continue offering high-quality spaces for the entire community to enjoy. These policies apply to ALL facility rentals listed below.

RESERVATIONS: Must be 21+ years old and present a valid driver’s license or state ID. All rentals must be booked in person at the Parks & Recreation office by the authorized contact person; changes and correspondence are handled exclusively through that person.

Minimum 2-hour rental. Reserve 1 week to 6 months in advance. Changes must be made 1 week in advance.

PAYMENT: Deposits and rental fees due at time of reservation. Personal checks are not accepted.

PRESENCE & RESPONSIBILITY: Authorized contact person must be present for the full duration of the rental and is responsible for any violations or damage to the facility. Rental hours must include set-up and cleanup time. Facilities will not open earlier than 15 minutes before start time, and staff will not wait longer than 15 minutes after designated start time.

PROHIBITIONS (all facilities): Smoking and Vaping, Wall decorations — all décor must be freestanding and removed at end of event. Outside tables and chairs (at indoor facilities). Glitter, confetti, powder dust, or poppers (at indoor facilities). Open flames (at indoor facilites), Alcohol is prohibited at all facilities with the exception of the JimmyBurke Activity Center.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS: Rental fees non-refundable without 1 week’s notice. Outdoor weather cancellations can be rescheduled (no refunds). Deposit refunds: 1–2 weeks by credit card, 3–4 weeks by check. After 2 weeks of no correspondence, deposits are credited to your account.

The department reserves the right to reassign rooms or buildings to accommodate programming or emergency events.

Tablecloths must be provided by renter. Floors must be swept and spot-mopped at end of rental; tables and chairs must be put away in designated areas. No open flames. No glitter, confetti, powder dust, or poppers. Outside tables and chairs are prohibited.

EARL DUNN GYM (INSIDE DAC)

Hours: Sat 5 PM – 9 PM only | Rate: Res $125/hr · Non-Res $175/hr | Deposit: $250

Gymnasium rental — Saturday evenings only.

SPORTS-RELATED ACTIVITIES ONLY. Proper attire required at all times: shirts, shorts, and non-marking gym shoes. Bare feet, flip flops, sandals, and dress shoes are prohibited.

Food and drinks are prohibited in the gym. Profanity or vulgar language is not allowed.

Stationary objects (strollers, chairs, car seats, etc.) are not allowed in the gym. Indoor track and fitness areas are NOT included in gym rental. No wall decorations — must be free-standing and removed after event.

DAC POOL (INDOOR)

Hours: Fri & Sat 5 PM – 9 PM | Capacity: Max 25 | Rate: Res $100/hr · Non-Res $150/hr Lifeguard: +$20/hr required | Deposit: $100

Private indoor pool rental

Friday and Saturday evenings only. Maximum 25 guests. Lifeguard fee of $20/hour is required in addition to the rental rate. Pool will not open earlier than 15 minutes before start time. Appropriate swimwear is required at all times — guests without proper swim attire will not be allowed in the pool. State Health Code requires all guests to shower before entering the pool.

Children age 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times. Only US Coast Guard approved flotation devices allowed. Food and drinks are prohibited in the pool area. Tables and chairs must be left set-up as-is at the end of the event. No wall or ceiling decorations (free-standing only). No open flames. No glitter, confetti, powder dust, or poppers.

OUTDOOR PAVILIONS — 5 LOCATIONS

Hours: Mon–Sun 8 AM – 10 PM | Rates: Res $10–$25/hr · Non-Res $20–$40/hr Deposit: $100 per pavilion

Five outdoor pavilions available for rental 7 days a week.

PAVILION RATES: Dow Park Large — Res $25/hr, Non-Res $40/hr · Dow Park Small — Res $10/hr, Non-Res $25/hr · Dow Park Splash Pad — Res $10/hr, Non-Res $25/hr · McHenry Park — Res $10/hr, Non-Res $20/hr · Bayou Bend — Res $10/hr, Non-Res $25/hr.

OUTDOOR-SPECIFIC RULES: Events with inflatables require a copy of liability insurance submitted by 5:30 PM the business day prior to event. Water inflatables, petting zoos, and children’s riding trains are prohibited. Back-yard BBQ pits are allowed on concrete surfaces and must be 15+ feet from the pavilion; coals must be disposed of properly before leaving. BBQ pits mounted on vehicles or trailers are prohibited. Vehicles are not allowed on grass or sidewalks. Music level must be kept at a moderate level. Decorations must be free-standing and removed at end of event. All trash must be deposited in designated receptacles. Cancellations due to inclement weather can be rescheduled to a later available date (no refunds).
