Bunco

BUNCO! Grab a friend and join us every Monday to play Bunco with the Maxwell Adult Center. We will have prizes for various winners. Bunco will take place in the Lunch Room on Mondays, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Bunco costs $3 to play with chances to win a prize. We look forward to seeing you there!

Bingo

Come join the Maxwell Center staff every Monday from 2 PM-3 PM and Wednesday from 1 PM-2 PM for exciting rounds of BINGO and a chance to win prizes. There will be an exciting round of ‘cover all’ for a chance to win a gift card. We will also be hosting a Birthday Bingo Bash on the first Wednesday each month in celebration for those who have a birthday within each respective month. Come on down to enjoy some cookies and games! If it’s your birthday month, come in and enjoy a chance to be the birthday bingo winner!

Cornhole

Cornhole is proven to help vision, depth perception, balance, and coordination in players of all ages. Cornhole is an incredibly fun game that involves trying to toss bean bags into a 6-inch hole cut into a board from feet away. Join us every Tuesday from 12 - 12:30 PM for fun games of cornhole with people in the Maxwell Community!

Trivia Tuesdays

Get together with your friends and drop by the Maxwell Adult Center the first and third Tuesday every month from 2 - 3 PM to play fun trivia games like Jeopardy or The Price is Right to get your mind flowing! Trivia Tuesdays will be led by a Maxwell Center staff member!

Mahjong

Researchers at Stanford University found that Mahjong increases brain health in as little as one game. They also found that consistent players enjoyed reduced depression rates. Mahjong is more than a game; it is a chance to enjoy company with friends. Come join The Maxwell Adult Center as we play this new and exciting game every Wednesday from 10 - 11:30 AM.

Bean Bag Baseball

Bring a friend and come on down to the Maxwell Adult Center for a fun bean bag game centered around baseball! We will be hosting the game every Friday from 1 - 2:30 PM.

Knitting And Crocheting

Knitting and Crocheting enthusiasts... Come on down to the Maxwell Adult Center! We have a group that meets every Thursday from 9 - 11:30 AM, where you can learn some new tips and pass on some knowledge. This is a FREE program for the Senior Deer Park community to enjoy!

Quilting

Calling all quilting enthusiasts! Stop in on Fridays to join our Quilters and meet new friends, learn some tips, and create quilts to donate to local organizations! The Quilters Group meets every Friday, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Maxwell Adult Center.

OIL PAINTING & MORE

Have a passion for art and oil painting? We offer two sessions for oil painting and more to bring out your creativity! One session is in the morning from 9AM - 12 PM and the second is in the afternoon from 1 PM - 4 PM on Tuesdays. If you are interested, please call the Maxwell Adult Center at 281-478-7276. This class has a waitlist and patrons who sign up will be called upon entry. Registration Required

Brain Exercises With Friends

Have you ever wondered what kinds of exercises can actually benefit your brain? According to research, the key to keeping your mind sharp is not just exercising your body, but also exercising your mind and maintaining healthy habits. It’s like the perfect formula to keep your brain in top-notch shape! Join us every other Monday for 45 minutes as we work on sudokus, crossword puzzles, memory recall games, riddles and more!

You are responsible for acquiring the reading materials, but trust us, it’s totally worth it.

Popcorn And Matinee

CHILI COOK-OFF

Junk In The Trunk

Junk in the Trunk gives the opportunity to buy and sell items, right out of the back of your vehicles - no tables or unloading necessary! Just pack everything in your vehicle and sell your items out of the back. Please arrive no earlier than 6 AM to check in and go to your assigned area. Call for more information on vendor forms.

GET COOKIN’ WITH MAXWELL

PHASE II OF THE HIKE & BIKE TRAILS

The City of Deer Park is working with Harris County for the next phase of the Hike and Bike Trails through a grant funded program. Harris County is currently working with several entities including the City to begin design work on the project.

The project is expected to begin in late 2024, consist of two phases, and estimated to be completed in 2025.

Jimmy Burke Activity Center

Design and construction of a new Jimmy Burke facility, museum and dog park are currently in design. The City is working with Brown Reynolds Watford to finalize design plants for creating a new JBAC to includes event space, museum, offices, and outdoor activity space. In addition, Ella in Friends Dog Park is planning to get a new and revamped look as well. The project is estimated to begin in late 2024 with an estimated completion date of 2025.

Theater Building

City Council approved funds for architectural services for the Theater expanded programming using the old Fire Station #1 after a New Station is built.

Soccer Complex Light Poles

After the devastating tornado of January 2023, the City of Deer Park has taken steps to make repairs to damaged facilities. This includes th installation of new field lights at the Dow Park Soccer Fields.

Bayou Bend Park

The new walking trail and disc golf course was completed in August 2023. This was a joint project with Harris County, Harris County Flood Control, and the City of Deer Park. We hosted our first annual Disc Golf Tournament in September 2023.
