3 days in a row of Thanksgiving themed games! Come to one or all! Roll a Turkey is a dice game with the object to fill a turkey card with candy. Be the first and get a small prize! Minute to Win it Thanksgiving style are challenges you must complete in only one minute! Candy Bar Bingo requires each participant to bring a regular size candy bar to play. Those getting a bingo pick a candy bar as their prize. The last game is a cover all and the winner will get the haul of candy in the pot!

Picture your dog walking politely beside you, staying still when you say and coming when you call. It’s possible! Join in on this basic dog obedience group class and learn how to motivate your dog to reliably follow your direction, Class is taught in a fun environment with you working alongside other dog people from your community. With a maximum of 15 dog/human pairs, make sure you reserve a spot in the next class!

There is no school for DPISD on Monday, October 14th but we have you covered with a field trip to 7 Acres Farm! There is plenty to do from petting zoo, a mini golf course, swings, huge playground, gigantic sandbox and much more! Please provide lunch or money to buy a lunch from the facility. Please arrive on time as departure will be exactly at 8:00am. We will only be offering 13 slots on this trip so register soon!

ZERO EFFORT MEAL PREP

Maxwell Center Multipurpose Room | $30

Join us at the Maxwell Center and learn a few meal prep recipes that are inexpensive, quick and easy to make. Best of all, everything we cook will be packed with nutrition. We will be teaching you how to spend less time in the kitchen and more time getting out and staying healthy. We will be showing you how to cook three different recipes that can be used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This event is being held at the Maxwell Center and is for everyone ages 18 & up.

Meet at Brazos Bend State Park at 9am on November 23 and conclude on November 24 at 11am

Join a parks and recreation staff member to guide you through an outdoor camping experience at one of Texas’s most beautiful state parks, Brazos Bend State Park! We will be partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife’s (TPWD) Texas Outdoor Family to provide you with tents, bedding, Dutch ovens and utensils for you to make camp meals for your family. There will be exciting activities such as alligator watching, nature walks, biking, which is also provided by TPWD and more. One campsite can accommodate a family up to six. Please bring enough food and water for your family to enjoy for 24 hours. Due to weather and high amount of walking, extra food and water is recommended. Relate, relate, release. Yoga is coming to the Maxwell Adult Center and everyone ages 55 and older are welcome to attend. Participants may attend any four of these classes per month for the price of $25.00 or all eight classes per month for the price of the price of $40.00.

Come enjoy a low impact cardio group class with Danielle. This class is structured to help enhance strength and conditioning for participants through adaptable muscletoning exercises, which offer a challenge at levels which are safe. Please wear athletic clothing and shoes. This class is free, but registration is required. Sign up at the Maxwell Center or call 281-478-7276.

Based on the cherished 2003 movie, Elf - The Musical, tells the story of Buddy, a human accidentally transported to the North Pole as a baby. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help the Big Apple remember the true meaning of Christmas. This warm-hearted Broadway musical is sure to make all Houstonians embrace their inner Elf.

Calling all seniors near and far! It’s Olympics time! There is a little something for everyone to participate in. We will be recognozing our veterans during opening ceremonies on Monday, November 11 at 9:30am. If you wish to be recognized, please contact the Maxwell Center. Events will run throughout the entire week. They include, but are not limited to, team walking relay, bakery, basketball, bean bag toss and chair volleyball. The Junior Art Park Players Academy offers a versitile selection of talent-expanding, con dence-building classes and workshops throughout the year. With an average of 200 students each semester, we would like to welcome you to our theatre family, and have you join us for a fun- lled season of ACTING, SINGING and DANCING!

This fall we will be presenting DISNEY’S FROZEN JR. at the conclusion of the semester. Performances are Dec. 3, 4, 5, 6 at 7pm. All students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to audition for roles in the show!

A change of habit, boy oh, boy!   When Sister Julia accidentally poisons 52 sisters with her soup, problems unfold.  The nuns funds aren't enough to cover such huge burial costs, so the sisters get creative and organize a talent show fundraiser to earn the money.  Based on the original Nunsense show, these "sisters" are "brothers" with all of the nuns being portrayed by male performers. Think of it as "Mrs. Doubt re enters the convent." For heaven sakes, don't miss this one!

We all have those days when it’s time to plan a celebration and it gets stressful trying to do so. If that’s you, then have your party at the Deer Park Community Center and let us help take some of the load off your shoulders. Each party consists of the rental room for 3 hours to include tables and chairs in addition to the first 2 hours of loaded exclusive fun in our game room.

Tallow Mitigation Project-

This project’s goal is to restore native wetland vegetation associated with an approximately 17-acre wetland located in Deer Park. Project includes removal of Chinese Tallow trees and other invasive species including buttonbush shrub, Cherokee Rose, Yaupon, blackberries and other herbaceous vegetation. Trees were removed using the girdle method, stump spray and foliar application for shrubs. This project was one of the elements associated with phase 1 of the Deer Park Nature Preserve Project that the City of Deer Park worked with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Army Corps of Engineers.

New Soccer Complex - The new soccer development project is nearing completion with a substantial completion letter for the building and punch list items close to completion. The RAS handicapped accessibility review has been completed. The grass sod, sprigging and hydro mulch have been installed and growing in the fields.

Repair to the Truss of the Historic Bridge at the Battleground Golf Course–Architectural Consultant RPS, Gibson & Associates, Inc, City of Deer Park Staff and Touchstone Golf have met several times including a preliminary and pre-construction meeting to discuss logistics and discuss relevant items to the project. The Notice to Proceed Letter was sent on June 19, 2019.

Battleground Historic Bridge Repair will consist of mobilization of materials and labor, replacing steel members, repair section loss with steel members, filling voids with metal repair composite, cleaning, abrasive blasting, and painting

steel. Construction on the bridge is currently underway.

Hike and Bike Trails – This is one of the seven projects that was approved at a Special Election for Type B Economic Development Sales and Use Tax Proposition in May 2015. On January 28, 2019 the DPCDC approved the recommendation to take to City Council to authorize the agreement with Burditt Consultants, LLC to begin the development of hike and bike trail project with a site feasibility study and implementation plan to include cost estimates, a phasing strategy, and schematic design of trail alignments. On February 5, 2019 at the City Council meeting, City Council approved the hiring of the firm to development the site feasibility plan and implementation plan with cost estimates, phasing strategy and schematic design of trail alignments for the hike and bike trail project. Burditt Consultants LLC has been contracted to administer architectural services for this project. A Committee has been developed that will consist of members from the Community.

North East Hike and Bike Trail Project – The City of Deer Park has begun work on design and layout for the Northeast Hike and Bike trail. The City has received a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to fund the future trail. RVi Planning was selected as the landscape architecture firm to complete the design work and layout of the trail. Preliminary conceptual design has the trail beginning in Park Green

Park and extending south to Runningbrook Park with several trail and path connections along the way. Surveyors have been gathering data from the trail site and that information will soon be utilized to complete the final design and construction
