According to Iris, Iris CAT (for Windows CE) is the only anti-virus product for the compact operating system. The challenge for CE software producers, the firm says, is making t he products small enough to fi t i n t h e slimmed down system while maintaining functionality. The firm says that the software protects Windows CE device users from viruses lurking inside of transferred files on the new small systems. Alan Komet, Iris' manager of worldwide marketing, said that, with Windows CE devices having the ability to send and retrieve email and attached files, it makes their desktop counterparts equally vulnerable to virus attacks. "What's more, once a virus is loaded into a CE device, the user's desktop system, and in turn, the entire enterprise is equally at risk if the file is transferred or emailed back to the desktop system," he explained.
