Volvo’s new C Series excavators Volvo Construction Equipment has launched the first of its C-series excavators the EC160C, EC180C and the EC210C. They come with more powerful Tier III compliant Volvo engines, delivering the best fuel efficiency in the industry, the company claims. These engines have been united with intelligent hydraulics, a more rugged undercarriage and superstructure. The cab has been substantially upgraded, giving operators more comfort, more space, a better climate, better visibility and improved, easier to use controls. The outgoing B-series was instrumental in

establishing Volvo Construction Equipment as a leading player in the global excavator market and the C-series is expected to expand on that success. The C-series excavators come with a range of options, including the CareTrack GPS monitoring system that allows users, from their computers, to track machine location, fuel usage, hours of operation and set machine usage limits. Different quick fit systems are also available for rapid and safe changeover of attachments.

Atlas Copco will present a new range of hydraulic compactors at Bauma. Six models are available for attachment to carriers weighing from 1 to 40 t. Compacting plate areas range from 0.22 to 0.94 m2. “We are offering a wide variety of products that can be attached to a large number of industrial carriers,” says Product Line Manager Pedestal Boom Solutions/Hydraulic Compactors Bernd Jenner. ”The HC 103, the smallest in the line, can be used in confined spaces. The bigger units are significant for their power, reliability and flexibility.” All Atlas Copco compactors can be quickly and easily attached to the carrier and fit existing adapter plates of the light to medium class of Atlas Copco hydraulic breakers. The three bigger models feature replaceable compacting plates to meet individual requirements for driving in posts, shutters or sheet piles. “The attached compactors reduce the manpower needed in the immediate vicinity and protect the operator against noise and risks because he can work from the carrier cabin. This particularly enhances the safety when working in ditches,” adds Jenner. ”And attached compactors are much faster and hence more cost effective than hand-held units”.
