Linkages & …DOST-Car Assemblers Agreement on Ink In line with DOST’s initiative to promote technological innovations to SMEs, DOST-NCR in cooperation with DOST-MIRDC and the Center for Automotive Technology Corporation (CATC), inked a MOA to develop and improve productivity, product quality and competitiveness of small car assemblers – a major support service sector of big car manufacturers in the National Capital Region.

The MOA signing was held at the DOST Conference Room on 26 May 2006 and was witnessed by Secretary Estrella F. Alabastro. The agreement was signed among MIRDC Executive Director Rolando T. Viloria, CATC President Mr. Vicente T. Mills, Jr. and DOST-NCR Regional Director Teresita C. Fortuna. The project aims to provide technical assistance and develop the manpower skills of vehicle manufacturer/assemblers and parts makers through training, testing, and skills certification. It will be administered by MIRDC’s experts for members of automotive industry associations like CAMPI, TMA, MDPPA, PAA, MCPPEA and PAFI. With this project, DOST-NCR and MIRDC hopes to support the expansion of capabilities of the metals and engineering sector.
Makati City: MALIMPCO graduation rites DOST NCR participated in the graduation rites held last February 14, 2006 for members of Makati Livelihood and Integrated Multipurpose Cooperative (MALIMPCO) who underwent training on making household accessories with emphasis on utilizing Handloom Weaving Technology. MALIMPCO is a cooperative in East Rembo in Makati City, a training made possible through the support of other government agencies such as TESDA, LGU and DOLE. Engr. Allan L.R.
