DOST-CAR plans to align its PPAs to current DOST, national admin’s directions

The Department of Science and Technology- Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) successfully conducted its 4th Quarter 2022 ManCom Meeting, FY 2023 Operational Planning and ISO Documents Review last December 05 to 08, 2022 at the Palm Grove Hotsprings & Mountain Resort, Asin Rd., Tuba, Benguet.

With the aim to align its major PPAs to the current DOST administration’s directions and PBBM’s Socioeconomic Agenda, DOST-CAR Regional Director Nancy A. Bantog guided the team in developing plans and strategies that when implemented will lead to smart, speedy and sustainable regional development.

She also emphasized taking advantage of the funding opportunities and various initiatives of other DOST agencies as well as infusing Research, Development and Innovations (RDI) into DOST-CAR major programs. With these inputs, the team was able to set deliverables on the creation of smart cities/ municipalities, Collaborative R&D to Leverage the Philippine Economy (CRADLE) and Business Innovation through S&T (BIST) for Industry and able to identify activities that will maximize Technology Business Incubation (TBI) programs in the region, among others.

The procedures manual of the PSTOs and units were also reviewed and presented to improve the manual and to keep the staff updated with the processes and guidelines.

With its mandate to plan and implement S&T programs and projects in the region, the DOSTCAR will continue to strengthen its existing PPAs while introducing new and relevant initiatives to deliver higher-level and advanced STI assistance for regional development.

The training was part of the Food Safety (FS) Program of DOST which was attended by six (6) firms from Mountain Province, namely: Heifer Partner Families Marketing Cooperative, Iglina’s Farm Café, KAYDD’s Cakeshop, LGU Bontoc (Lemon Processing), Paned’s Ice Cream, and Sagada Homemade Whole Wheat Bread and four (4) firms from Ifugao: Uncle Doods Bakeshop, Granary Bakery, Sharon’s Bread and SR Enterprises.

The said program was established to promote the adoption of safe food handling practices among food processors, therefore ensuring that the food produced or served would not cause any disease or injury to consumers and is guaranteed to have proven, consistent safety, and quality.
