DOST-CAR Kickstarts 2023 Women’s Month Celebration with a Launching Ceremony
The DOST-CAR joins in opening the women’s month celebration with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” on the 8th of March 2023 via Zoom meeting.

Engr. Angel Maguen, ARD for Field Office Services, delivered an observance message highlighting the importance of furthering the cause of women inclusivity and gender-fairness in the workplace. “Why there is women’s month? It is to remind us that women have a good role to play in our society. It is not about women’s rights but more about women’s opportunities to excel in whatever field they choose,” he remarked.
Representatives from the different PSTOs then recited their GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) commitment pledges. The GFPS, in accordance to Section 36(b) of RA 9710, also known as the Magna Carta for Women, serves to catalyze and accelerate gender mainstreaming within the agency or local government unit.
The pledge of commitment to push forward gender and development within their respective offices were delivered by PSTD Ralph Sapi-il of PSTO Abra, Mr. Kevin Angadol of PSTO Mt. Province, Mr. Karl Ian Martinez of PSTO Kalinga, PSTD Debbie Glynn Manangkil of PSTO Apayao, PSTD Genna Jallorina of PSTO Ifugao, and PSTD Sheila Marie Singa-Claver of PSTO Benguet.
Ms. Maria Rowena C. Madarang, Chief Administrative Officer and ARD for Finance and Administrative Services, spearheaded the launching of activities for the Women’s Month celebration by presenting the list of scheduled events and activities for March 2023.

Support pledges were shared by Ms.
Nova Consuelo Santos, Ms. Alicia Balacua, and Ms. Shela Lorraine Cosalan, members of the GAD focal point system. Finally, Dr. Pepita S. Picpican, ARD for Technical Services, delivered a continuity message emphasizing the agency’s commitment and support to the advancement of women and gender equality.
The International Women’s Day, celebrated yearly on the 8th of March is recognized as a worldwide recognition for the achievement of women of all ages. It also brings forward recognition to significant women who contributed to the advancement of their gender.
