Oil pans, transmission pans, tail pipes, fender wells, and air dams can easily be damage when contacted by the wheel lift crossbar or wheel retainers susceptible to damages. Items include oil pans, transmission pans, tailpipes, fender wells, and air dams. To avoid harm, there must be adequate clearance between the wheel lift crossbar and the oil pan or transmission fluid pan. Keep in mind that the suspension of the vehicle may compress enough during the tow to cause the oil pan or transmission fluid pan to make contact with the wheel lift crossbar. Sometimes this type of damage is not noticed until the vehicle is serviced because no one, including

you, can notice a dented or damaged pan unless it leaks fluid. However, some vehicles are equipped with an aluminum oil pan that will often crack and create a significant oil leak. Both you and your customer will probably notice it before you lower the vehicle to the ground after the tow.
