EVANS AND SCOTTY RICARDSON
‘What can I say? I mean back in those days I was putting a shift in at 6. So, we had Catton at 2, with a couple of ogres either side of him in Chris O’Reilly and Jake Cooper-Woolley. With his old man also picking the team, this gave Catton licence to do as he pleased on the pitch! This is I guess where his habit for red cards started – he was more than happy to start a scrap with those 2 beside him. He really did struggle on throwing the ball in the line-out ’til he was about 15 – getting a pair of Andy Goode style stick mitts for Christmas and a bit of coaching from yours truly seemed to do the trick! I’ll fondly remember Catton being called Poo Bum Pinky by his teammates. The pooey bum became justified after he came to visit me at Cardiff Uni years later…. but that’s a story for him to tell.’
Ross ‘Frenchy’ Grimstone – Ex Youth and 1st XV player

‘Look, Catton and I have always had a love hate relationship. In the early days he used to look up to me, I took him to Officers Club in Dorking to show him where I bought me jeans, we used to go out for beers with the lads, it was all good. But he changed as soon as he got his first 1st XV cap, let me tell you. I will never forget; we were on the bus on the way back from one of his first away games. He was giving it large, throwing his weight about, playing the big I am. But then he took it too far. We stopped at Bishop Stortford services on the way back from Hertford. We’d just nailed a Burger King and I went off for a piss, telling Catton to let the driver know I would be 2 minutes and not to leave. What does he do? Tells the driver everyone was on. So, I am left chasing the bus down the slip road and only just get on it before it joins the motorway – what a wa*ker. I got him back though. He went to South Africa in 2009 with the boys. So, I took my chance and had his Mrs at the time away for myself! Well, as Jimmy always says himself – boys will be boys!’
Harry ‘David’ Watts – Ex Club Captain and most reliable 1st XV player of all time

‘He’s a prick. Lol’

Nicky Brown – Ex DRFC Bar Manager

Jimmy – you have given so much to this club, both on and off the field. You deserve this send off. We are all hugely grateful and look forward to seeing you flourish in the Minis coaching set up with Barnaby. Congrats to you and Katie on the birth of Florence and we hope to see you trot out for the occasional fixture in the future like any good front rower does if they are called upon.
We hope you have all enjoyed this season’s Cock Facts - we’ve loved writing them!
