DAVID AND MAARTJE LEMSTRA TULARE, CALIFORNIA David and Maartje Lemstra have been on a dairy in California since they married. Milking cows and keeping books fits in between keeping up with the busyness of life as a young family heavily involved in church ministries and activities, Bible studies, school events, and more. “We’re very committed to Christian education,” says David. “Raising children of God is our first ministry.” The Lemstras’ five children range from elementary to high school age. “We appreciate Dordt’s biblical, covenantal approach to education,” says Maartje, adding that two generations of their families have already benefitted from Dordt educations. “God calls us to be a salt and light in the world,” says David. He believes that Dordt is committed to preparing students to be just that, whether in more academic or more vocational programs.
