Door Shakespeare presents The Tempest & The Three Musketeers: An Adventure, with Music | Program

Welcome welcome to door shakespeare! Many weeks ago a whole host of artists arrived to these woods with hope in their hearts and a common goal: to share these timeless stories with you. The first day of rehearsal began with a tour of the grounds. I remember the first tour I took fifteen years ago and the first one I gave five years ago. Memories of seasons past surrounded us as we walked. And there are lots of memories. As many stories as we have told onstage; there are more backstage about the people who have made it happen. The people that make it happen. As we gathered together for our first day of rehearsal this year, I was struck by how much bigger our circle is now than it had been the year before—what a joyful realization that was! We are so happy to welcome you back to a traditional Door Shakespeare season with two shows with full casts, running in rotating repertory over two months and then some! This year we bring you two adventures, one by land, and one by sea. By land, The Three Musketeers: An Adventure, With Music. This classic tale based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas is an adventure for the whole family with music and lyrics by our own Scott McKenna Campbell. And by sea: The Tempest reaches out, with its rich language, accessible themes, and beautiful settings, to Shakespeare aficionados as well as to new fans of all ages. In addition to our two adventures, we announce the return of Will in the Woods, Shake it up Saturday, and Wine Nights; and introduce Food Truck Fridays. Our annual gala arrives July 17, and our summer youth theater program, Camp Will, returns with three sessions taught by members of the acting company. If you look to your left and look to your right you’ll see more neighbors than ever sharing this experience with you. Friends, family, and new acquaintances sitting together again, learning more about each other and the world around us by sharing the story in front of us. Thank you for joining our circle! Enjoy the show.
