Roble (Amburana cearensis) is a hardwood which is light yellow in colour, it has a smooth luster and texture with a closely interlocked grain. Roble has excellent machining and turning qualities,. Its strength is similar to teak. If left untreated Roble will mellow down to a silver grey appearance, our Roble timber comes from Bolivia and has a durability of 25 years.
Teak (Tectona grandis) is the perfect hardwood when it comes to outdoor furniture. It is brown in colour and has a beautifully smooth texture and a striped grain. Its naturally high oil content gives it a formidable resistance to extreme weather conditions making it a very durable timber with a life span of 25 years. Our Teak collection is made using only premium grade timber from Brazil.
Mahogany (Meliaceae family) is a hardwood with ideal qualities for producing excellent garden furniture with a durability of twelve years plus. The heartwood is pinkish when freshly cut and darkens to the typical mahogany reddish brown. Our Mahogany timber comes from The Congo in Central Africa.
Cornis (Eucalyptus tereticornis) is a dense close grained hardwood with a durability of 10 years plus. It is brown in colour and each piece of furniture has an oiled finish giving it a smooth finish. Our Cornis timber comes from eucalyptus trees in Uruguay. Cornis

Pine
New England (Eucalyptus tereticornis) Benches are made from Cornis timber, a species of Eucalyptus, the timber is sourced from Uruguay and has a durability of 10 years. The white finish is the result of two coats of polyurethane paint, it has a matt finish.
Pine (Pinus sylvestris) has an impressive grain and its yellow green colour mellows over time to an attractive silver grey. Each piece of furniture is preservative treated in order to make them suitable for outdoor use, giving a durability of ten years plus. Our Pine timber comes from Poland.

Our Roble collection provides some of the most beautiful garden furniture available from timber that is environmentally sourced. Manufactured in our own factory, Alexander Rose Roble furniture is made using only 100% pure timber from managed forests in Bolivia and is a stronger and sustainable alternative to other woods. We have used our best selling Broadfield and Turnberry benches to create the New England Range. Manufactured using Cornis timber the furniture has been beautifully transformed into a clean and fresh range by using a polyurethane paint finish suitable for any environment. Our Danish designed Drachmann Bench is famous for its cross pattern slats and reminiscent of peaceful Scandinavian Seaside Houses. We have also introduced a new Rocking Chair and Children’s Bench to compliment the collection. The New England Range will grace the most cultivated gardens and brighten up patios and corners that lack a ‘je ne sais quoi’.

Pine is an extremely popular softwood for making garden furniture. It has an impressive figurative grain that becomes enhanced with age. We only use carefully selected timber from responsibly managed forests in Eastern Europe. Each piece has been treated in order to make it suitable for outdoor use, giving a durability of 10 years. The yellow green colour mellows over time to an attractive silver grey. The rustic Farmers table and benches have been designed using a traditional stretcher rail and locking peg construction for simple assembly. Parasol Information While we all love to soak up the sun, we also know the importance of protecting ourselves from its harmful rays. Our range of high specification garden parasols offer the perfect finishing touch to any dining set. Alexander Rose parasols have eight spokes providing a superior shape and strength, and are available in a choice of hardwood or stainless steel with aluminium spokes.
To clean your parasol we advise that the fabric is kept attached to the frame, use a soft brush or broom and warm soapy water. For more stubborn stains the canopy can be removed and washed at 30˚C. Once washed it is important to put the canopy back on the frame to dry.

Offering convenience and elegance our Cantilever Parasol can be repositioned to provide maximum shade. The cantilever parasol appears to float above the furniture set, it can be manually rotated on its own axis to follow the sun. It is freestanding which means you can position chairs under it, rather than around a central pole as with conventional designs. The crank mechanism makes it effortless to use. The UH35 Cantilever Parasol is fully adjustable and tilts to shade the furniture from the sun. The parasols are made using lightweight durable polyester fabric which is water resistant and easy to clean. Timber Cleaner | Timber Protector | Timber Sealer | Timber Treatment | Karri Oil | Cornis Oil Timber Furniture Care Alexander Rose manufactures garden furniture which will last for many years. Over time, as part of the natural weathering process, cracks and splits will appear in the wood particularly on the end grain and to a lesser extent on the surface. The drier the wood, the more cracks will appear due to the evaporation of natural oils and minerals in the wood from exposure to the elements. As with most hardwoods, this is a normal characteristic for any timber which remains outdoors. Our timber furniture is designed with this in mind and its strength and durability will remain unaffected. Wooden furniture can be treated with our specially formulated care products to give a beautiful rich finish and enhance the look of the wood. Alternatively it can be left to turn a mellow silver grey, and should be cleaned occasionally with soapy water.

Timber Maintenance Weathering occurs over a period of time, you can expect to see changes in the timber after a few weeks. Timber is a natural material, it absorbs moisture in wet conditions and is likely to expand. In dry conditions the timber dries and may well shrink a very small amount, as the material moves surface cracks will appear in the timber. You can maintain the appearance of your furniture by lightly sanding down the timber and applying one of our formulated care products, see below for results. New

New England Maintenance Alexander Rose New England furniture is produced in a matt white finish, this is the result of two coats of polyurethane paint to the Cornis timber. After time there may be hairline cracks in the finish, this is due to the timber moving. Expansion and contraction of timber is normal and is caused by climatic variation, this becomes noticable around the joints. The New England benches are designed to be used outside, we recommend regular maintenance to retain its original condition, this can be done by sanding the effected area down to the natural timber, a reddish colour, then re-apply evenly a white matt polyurethane paint to the area. Polyurethane paint can be purchased from any DIY or Hardware store, if you are unsure about what paint to use please contact Alexander Rose.

Furniture Treatments & Maintenance Product maintenance is easy, just follow our advice.
Woven Furniture Maintenance | Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish | Powder Coated Mild Steel Maintenance Weave Information Alexander Rose Woven furniture is made from only the highest quality synthetic man-made fibre available, Rose fibres. Rose fibres are UV and fully weather resistant, and also insensitive to differences in temperature. The Rose fibre is produced for Alexander Rose by Viro, and are tested rigorously to ensure they meet with our exacting standards. The structure of all our woven furniture is made from fully welded, powder-coated aluminium frames. The aluminium tubes we use have a wall thickness of 1.5 mm to provide maximum strength and a lightweight frame. Once a frame has been covered in its woven skin the furniture becomes even stronger. The aluminium frames are electrostatically powder coated to prevent them from oxidisation, the finish is invisible once it has been woven over. Our weavers are highly skilled, often 2nd and 3rd generation weavers. They use their traditional experience with natural materials and apply their skills to using the modern manmade wickers.
Weave Maintenance We recommend that woven furniture is cleaned at least once a year, it is important to use a non-foaming cleaner on woven furniture, as a foaming product will leave residues in the gaps in between the weave which will then attract dirt. A pressure hose on a low wide spray setting is acceptable to use on woven chairs at a distance of approximately one metre from the product, tables should be cleaned carefully with a sponge and a cleaner. Follow the instructions below; • Apply lukewarm water with a soft cloth or sponge. • Brush the furniture clean with a soft scrubbing pad. • Rinse furniture well with clean water. Scratch marks or abrasion to the edges of the fibre can be repaired by very briefly and carefully applying heat (i.e. the heat of a hair dryer) to the affected area and rubbing along the length of the fibre with a piece of hard cardboard to restore a smooth edge. To clean the table top glass we suggest the use of any household glass or window cleaner. We recommend cleaning the glass at least once a year.

Stainless Steel Maintenance Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish Alexander Rose Avant and A-Class furniture is made using 304 grade stainless steel, the industry standard for outdoor furniture applications. As with any items left outside stainless steel requires maintenance to keep it looking as new, treatment can be applied yearly or every few months to keep it in top condition. Stainless steel is resistant to corrosion, but in some case the surface of the steel may develop small brown spots. These spots are commonly caused by the effects of salt water and airbourne chemicals, this process is likely to be accelerated in coastal areas. These spots in no way affect the strength and integrity of your furniture, they are simply superficial discolourations that require cleaning with our stainless steel cleaner and polish.
Maintenance Advice When using stainless steel cleaner and polish use protective gloves, cover the ground under your working area before you begin.

Mild Steel Maintenance Portofino Information The Portofino range requires minium maintenance, although we recommned cleaning your furniture every year. The range is made using grey powder coated mild steel. The frames begin with a cleaning and phosphate treatment, this provides effective rust protection. Next is a cathodic dip coating where a layer of primer is evenly applied via an electrochemical process, this is the perfect bonding agent for the powder coating treatment. Powder coating the frames result in a smooth finish and provides an effective layer of protective skin, once dry they recieve yet another coating. Giving the frames two layers of treatment ensures it will last outdoors for many years, the Portofino range is smooth to touch, weather resistant and pratically maintenance free.
Maintenance Advice • Only clean using a damp cloth and mild detergent, do not use bleach or abrasive cleaners. • From time to time check that there are no loose screws on the tables, this is to prevent damage occuring to table legs.

Anchor your furniture for stability and security. Soft Ground Anchors | Hard Ground Anchors Anchor Information We have designed two types of anchors for different surfaces, the most common being lawns. Using an Alexander Rose soft ground anchor kit avoids the need for concrete, installation is quick and easy without any mess. Our soft ground anchors come with solid brass plates that screw onto the outside legs of a bench, these have sleeves to allow the anchors to pass through and penetrate the surface. When an anchor approaches its maximum depth (500mm) a curved fluke is released to grip the bench further into the surface, adding more security. Our hard ground anchors or bolt down anchors are designed to be used with concrete, they have a maximum depth of 110mm and requires a 20mm masonary drill bit to install them.
