The forming operations have to be carried out with extremely limited craneage.

The Solution The structure cores are being formed by automatic climbing formwork Xclimb 60. When sufficient crane time is available, this system can also be repositioned by crane. The floor-slab formwork is moved up to the next storey independently of the crane, by the Table Lifting System.

Climbing formwork Xclimb 60 and the Table Lifting System TLS are taking a lot of pressure off the limited craneage available at the site of Severn Trent Water’s new HQ building. Space constraints at this inner-city location have necessitated very tight scheduling of both operations and materials. By pre-assembling the formwork systems at its Sheffield Branch and assuring JIT deliveries, Doka is playing a key role in simplifying the logistics. Another constraint here is limited craneage – which is why contractors Concentral Ltd. decided to field Doka automatic climbing formwork Xclimb 60 and the Table Lifting System TLS. Flexible climbing of in-situ concrete cores Tailored for economy and flexibility, the Climbing formwork Xclimb 60 is making its UK debut on the two central cores. “A huge advantage of the system for us is that we can choose between raising the climbing formwork with a crane-lift or independently of the crane using hydraulic cylinders”, explains project manager Martin Swift. To ensure

smooth climbing operations, an experienced Doka Site Demonstrator gave the site crew thorough instruction in how to handle the formwork. Table Lifting System for fast formwork operations The site crew are forming 16,000 m² of slabs with high-speed Dokamatic tables. “With the Dokamatic tables we can form the floor slabs much more economically than if we were using an ordinary strike-and-erect formwork system”, says Martin Swift. To be able to move the tables up the next floor independently of the crane, the site engineers decided to use the Doka Table Lifting System TLS, so as to completely separate the slabforming work from all other construction operations. The result is a continuous, troublefree workflow in every phase of the forming assignment.
