TEN TIPS TO A HEATHY & SAFE PREGNANCY •
Take Folic acid during and preferably prior to pregnancy to reduce the chances of spinal defects.
•
The vast majority of structural anomalies are best detected by traditional ultrasounds rather than three or four dimensional ultrasounds.
•
Exercise, marital relations, shopping and care of the household are safe in moderation during a normal pregnancy.
•
Regular exercise contributes to a swifter and less painful birth experience. Walking, and pre-natal yoga are good ways to keep fit.
•
Eat plenty of fruits & vegetables, starchy foods and dairy. Iodine-rich foods help the baby’s development.
•
Stay out of the sun as much as possible - too much sun can cause a skin pigmentation problem called “pregnancy mask”.
•
More mature mothers may face additional pregnancy complications and require both closer monitoring and more tests than younger mothers.
•
Avoid henna, hair dyes and other chemicals during pregnancy.
•
Keep your feet up as much as possible during the last trimester.
•
Use the seat belt appropriately with the lower belt on the pelvis and the chest belt above the tummy.
