Uniform Policy 2025-2026 2026-2027

GENERAL GUIDELINES CCA’s uniform policy is intended to reflect the school’s stated aims to honor God and disciple students. It is designed to encourage modesty, decency, and propriety and to de-emphasize the use of clothing as a significant means of establishing self-identity or gaining attention or social status (Matt 6:28-34; 1 Cor 9:1923; 1 Peter 3:2-4; 1 Tim 2:9,10; James 2:1-5).

The Headmaster, or one designated to act in his/her stead, retains the authority to determine the appropriateness of a given student’s attire or appearance, and may remove the student from campus or otherwise discipline any student deemed to be inappropriately dressed. The administration also reserves the right to grant a limited variance to these regulations for special purposes, provided that high standards of modesty are always upheld.

Uniform policy adherence and violations are a parent’s responsibility. If a student is in violation of any of the rules stated above the administration will contact the parents to inform them of the violation and remind them of these standards.

UNIFORMS There is no requirement for where to purchase uniforms, but for the convenience of families we have listed some options below: Lands’ End: Charis can be found under “School Uniforms.” Search for ‘Charis Classical Academy’ or use preferred school code: 900151754. Lands’ End can embroider the Charis crest on your uniform or other items.

Uniform clothing may also be purchased elsewhere (French Toast, Target, Gap, Old Navy, etc.) as long as it meets the dress code standards. Please remember to review the dress code below for school standards before buying from other stores.

Additional Attire CCA families are encouraged (but certainly not required) to purchase additional clothing for the whole family at Lands’ End (www.LandsEnd.com). Lands’ End has a huge assortment of outerwear such as sweatshirts, shirts, jackets and gift items that are personalized with the Charis crest and logo. A percentage of all sales go to Charis as a means of fundraising.

Outerwear

Jackets and coats worn outdoors can be any color or style, but should be weatherappropriate and without sports teams or characters on them.

Hats & outerwear may not be worn in the classroom.

Please avoid rolling backpacks for 6th-12th grades, as they do not fit in student lockers and require additional hall space.

DRESS UNIFORMS FOR 6TH-12TH GRADE Dress uniforms will be worn on Koinonia days and special days (to be determined).

Young men wear khaki pants, white oxford shirts, and Charis plaid or navy necktie or bowtie. May add a navy sweater vest or navy blazer. No casual tennis shoes.

Young ladies wear khaki pants OR navy or plaid skirt, white oxford button-down, and navy sweater (vest, pullover, button-down cardigan) or blazer. A navy cross tie is optional. No casual tennis shoes.

NOTEWORTHY CLARIFICATIONS 1. Ladies’ sweaters & cardigans should be no shorter than at the hip and no longer than thigh length.

2. Pullovers may include quarter to half-zip sweaters.

3. Pants must have a dark belt. Shirts must be tucked in for all grammar students and logic/rhetoric men.

Logic/rhetoric ladies are not required to tuck in shirts.

4. Our elementary plaid is called “Classic Navy” on Lands’ End and “Blue/Gold” on French Toast. It has blue stripes with a small gold stripe. See page 2 for example.

5. Regarding tattoos, piercings, and hair color, we recognize families hold different convictions. It is not our role as a school to dictate these, nor do we wish to create unnecessary rules. At Charis, students should avoid tattoos, piercings, or dyed hair that are distracting. While this is a relative standard, it helps maintain professionalism and ensures personal appearance does not hinder learning, similar to our uniform policy.
