1. Welcome to Beachcities Classical Learning Center Beachcities Classical Learning Center exists to partner with parents to cultivate Christians who glorify God with their wisdom, eloquence, and virtue.

We train learners to achieve deep proficiency and long-term retention of a core body of knowledge, reason clearly and wisely, articulate persuasively, and cultivate a lifelong love of God and learning. Our learners leave our program knowing God’s Word, the Great Books, and how to form and eloquently share an argument, capable of discerning truth, appreciating goodness, and recognizing beauty. We aim to cultivate children of virtue who evaluate the world through the lens of the Word of God, equipping them to navigate life with wisdom and faith.

2. What is Classical Christian Education?

Classical Christian Education (CCE) is a Greco-Roman educational method that trains learner reasoning based on the natural phases of learner development (Trivium-based) in order to form a Christ-centered worldview (Paideia), while cultivating the Seven Virtues using the Seven Liberal Arts and the Great Books.

•

Paideia: The transfer of a way of life through rightly ordering our affections that shape our decisions and behaviors.

•

The Seven Virtues: Faith, Hope, Charity (Love), Fortitude, Justice (Righteousness), Temperance, and Prudence.

•

The Seven Liberal Arts: Arithmetic, Astronomy, Geometry, Music, Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. These are skills that free a person to think for themselves, direct themselves, and lead others well.

•

The Great Books: A collection of literature, philosophy, history, and science works that are considered to contain the fundamental ideas of Western civilization.

3. What is Homeschooling?

Homeschooling at Beachcities Classical Learning Center involves parents assuming the primary role in their child’s education through academic support, reinforcement, character building, and record keeping. It prioritizes character, virtues, and faith development, offering a holistic education that strengthens the bond between parent and child.

We are a ministry and academic program, not a school, partnering with families in their Classical Christian homeschooling journey. We equip parents with resources, training, and support, empowering them to lead their child’s education and development.

4. What We Believe 4.1 In Loco Parentis

In accordance with Scripture, we believe parents are the primary authority regarding their children’s education. Beachcities Classical operates in loco parentis, Latin for “in the parent’s place.” This means: •

We partner with parents to fulfill their divine obligation to provide Christian instruction (Deuteronomy 6:1–9; Ephesians 6:1–4).

•

The Learning Center operates as an extension of the family, assuming education is the parents’ responsibility, not the state’s.

•

Parents voluntarily delegate authority to the program for their children’s training.

4.2 Beachcities Classical Learning Center Statement of Faith

This Statement of Faith reflects the theological foundation of our program. All staff/ faculty and families must assent to these statements: •

The Bible: We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and is our authority for faith and practice.

•

Jesus: We believe that Jesus Christ is God in human flesh, without sin, born of a virgin; that He was crucified for our sins, arose from the dead, and lives in Heaven now as our Mediator, Priest, and Advocate.

•

Salvation: We believe that all sinners are saved from sin, death, and hell by personal faith in Jesus Christ as our only Lord and Savior; and that salvation is

by God’s grace alone apart from human righteousness.

•

The Great Commission: We believe in the Great Evangelistic Commission–that we are to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ–and we are committed to using our time, talents, and resources to accomplish that purpose.

•

The Trinity: We believe in one God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

•

Second Coming: We believe that Jesus is coming again to take His believers with Him to Heaven, and that He will return with them to set up His kingdom on earth.

•

Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit and that He causes sinners to be born again; that He indwells all believers in Jesus Christ; that He equips them with spiritual gifts for serving Him in the local church; and that He makes their salvation eternally secure.

Marriage/Sexuality: We believe that God defines marriage as the life-long covenant between one man and one woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin. We believe that God immutably creates each person to reflect His image as either male or female.

4.3 Perspective of History

Beachcities Classical approaches the study of history from a Protestant Christian perspective, recognizing God’s sovereign hand at work throughout all of time. We seek to understand historical events not merely as a sequence of human actions, but as part of a greater narrative shaped by God’s providence, purposes, and redemptive plan.

Scripture reminds us that “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 103:19), and that God “changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings” (Daniel 2:21). With this foundation, learners are encouraged to view history through a biblical lens—discerning truth, recognizing the impact of worldview, and understanding how faith has shaped cultures, nations, and individuals throughout the ages.

Our aim is to cultivate wisdom and discernment as our learners engage with history, equipping them to see God’s faithfulness across generations and to thoughtfully interpret the past in light of His Word.

5. Code of Conduct This code of conduct applies to all who participate in our program including learners, staff/faculty, parents, and volunteers.

5.2 Learner Etiquette

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

—Galatians 5:22–23 At Beachcities Classical, learners are expected to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in their interactions with peers, tutors, administration, parents, and visitors.

Periodically, tutors will provide instruction and reminders to cultivate these habits, with the hope that they become part of the daily fabric of our learning environment.

5.2.1 Courtesy Between Young Men and Women Young men are mentored in the practice of: •

Opening doors for all ladies, including classmates, tutors, administration, parents, and visitors.

•

Allowing ladies to enter and exit rooms first.

•

Allowing ladies to be seated and served first at events involving food.

Young ladies are encouraged to accept such kindness with humility and thankfulness.

5.2.2 Courtesy Toward Tutors and Administration

Learners are expected to show proper respect to tutors and administrators by: •

Addressing them formally as Mr., Mrs., or Miss.

•

Responding with “yes, sir/ma’am” or “no, sir/ma’am” (not “yeah” or nonverbal grunts).

Depending on grade level, learners may: •

Stand when an adult enters the classroom.

•

Designate a class ambassador to greet guests.

Learners arriving late to class are asked to wait at the classroom entrance and enter only when invited by the tutor.

5.3 Standards for Etiquette

To ensure consistency and order, BCLC tutors and administrators provide ongoing instruction in the following etiquette standards:

5.3.1 Lower Program (Grades TK–5) Learners will: •

Sit attentively in class with good posture and maintain eye contact during instruction.

•

Walk in quiet, straight lines through the hallway, keeping to the right and avoiding contact with walls.

•

Pass doors carefully to the person behind them and pause at the end of the hall until the group catches up.

•

Generally, allow young ladies to go first in line and be seated first (except for “learner of the day” privileges).

•

Accept such courtesies with grace, never demanding them.

Regarding classroom visitors: •

If an adult enters quietly and does not wish to interrupt, the tutor will continue instruction and learners should remain seated.

•

If an introduction is desired, the adult will knock, and appropriate greetings will follow.

5.3.2 Upper Program (Grades 6–10) Learners will: •

Wait to be seated until invited by the tutor, as a sign of respect.

•

Sit attentively with good posture and maintain eye contact during instruction.

•

Move quickly and quietly between classes, entering their next room respectfully.

•

Visit quietly with classmates before class begins.

Classroom conduct: •

Raise a hand to speak or ask questions unless in a structured discussion format.

•

Ask for assistance politely rather than demanding or announcing needs.

•

No food or drinks are allowed in classroom other than water.

5.4 Matthew 18 Policy

“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.”

—Matthew 18:15 In keeping with biblical principles, Beachcities Classical Learning Center follows the process outlined in Matthew 18:15–17 for addressing concerns and resolving conflicts within our community.

1. Direct Communication Parents, learners, or staff/faculty should first address any concerns directly with the individual involved, seeking resolution through honest and respectful conversation.

2. Involve a Third Party: If the issue cannot be resolved privately, the concern should be brought to the attention of administration, who can assist in facilitating further discussion.

3. Leadership Review: Should the matter remain unresolved, it will be presented to the Head of Program for further review and resolution.

This process promotes personal responsibility, restoration of relationships, and unity within our community.

5.5 Discipline

Discipline is a vital part of teaching our learners to love God and to serve Him by loving others. It is therefore intimately related to our program mission and should be embraced. Discipline is a sacred responsibility for every parent and Beachcities Classical Learning Center staff/faculty member. We administer discipline because we love our learners. This is a biblical principle, as Proverbs 13:24 declares, “He who loves him disciplines him and trains him diligently and appropriately [with wisdom and love].” God Himself disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12). Education without discipline is incomplete and fails to produce fruitful disciples of Jesus.

Disciplinary practices at Beachcities Classical Learning Center are intended to shepherd the hearts of children, not to control behavior. We will always seek to provide discipline that gets to the heart of the child’s actions. Discipline that simply manipulates a child into meeting our expectations does not lead to a self-disciplined, abundant life after graduation. Most learning institutions use behaviorist models for discipline. While this can create an orderly learning institution, it does not create

a pure heart. The Scriptures teach that the heart is the wellspring or source of life (Proverbs 4:23). Jesus declares, “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn bushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:43-45).

Our overall goal is to equip learners with vital common-sense problem-solving skills that foster safe and healthy lives. We believe that every child has the capacity to solve problems independently when guided with empathy and support. Consequently, we encourage each learner to take responsibility for their decisions and address behaviors that affect themselves and others. Recognizing that every individual and situation is unique, we tailor our approach to problem-solving based on the specific needs and circumstances of each learner.

Most discipline issues that arise will be addressed at the classroom level. Tutors may implement various progressive disciplinary measures within the classroom, such as verbal warnings, loss of privileges, seating changes, quiet time, etc. If necessary, tutors may also refer the learner to the Head of Program for additional support and resolution. Some basic behaviors automatically necessitate discipline and parental involvement. In keeping with the biblical command to fathers, the primary contact (typically the first telephone call) for discipline issues will be to the learner’s father: •

Disrespect shown to any staff/faculty member. The staff/faculty member will be the judge of what constitutes disrespectful behavior.

•

Dishonesty in any situation at program, including lying, cheating, or stealing.

•

Rebellion, such as outright disobedience in response to instruction.

•

Fighting physically or verbally, with intent to harm or hurt another. In cases of self-defense, the staff/faculty member will be the judge of its appropriateness.

•

Inappropriate, obscene, vulgar or profane language.

•

Possession and/or use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping paraphernalia, or illegal drugs.

•

Serious moral offense.

We are not content with merely stopping the inappropriate behavior; therefore, BCLC staff/faculty look for the earliest opportunity to explore with the learner the overflow of the heart issues that have produced the wrong behavior. We seek to bring together “shepherding the child’s heart” with the biblical “sowing and reaping” principle. As in all other areas of education at BCLC, love and forgiveness are an integral part of the discipline process of a learner.

5.6 Consequences for Violations of Beachcities Classical’s Code of Conduct:

If a learner is disciplined by BCLC staff/faculty, the following actions will generally be taken (in no particular order), depending on the nature and severity of the infraction: 1. The learner’s parent(s) or guardian(s) will be contacted by telephone to inform them of the situation and request their partnership in addressing the issue.

2. A meeting will be scheduled with the parent(s) or guardian(s) to discuss the situation thoroughly and develop a specific plan of action. A Behavior Contract and/or Service Requirement may be implemented.

3. The learner may be assigned “Family Time” (suspension). The duration will be determined by the Head of Program. The learner will be responsible for completing all missed assignments prior to returning.

4. In cases of serious misconduct, especially when a learner’s behavior has a significantly negative influence on the school community, the learner may be permanently separated (expelled) from Beachcities Classical Learning Center.

Certain zero-tolerance violations may result in immediate removal.

Examples of serious misconduct include, but are not limited to: •

Romantic relationships between learners

•

Persistent disobedience to parents

•

Embracing worldliness or ungodly influences

•

A consistently defiant or surly attitude

•

Any ongoing pattern of behavior that demonstrates a clear disregard for biblical standards

Beachcities Classical Learning Center recognizes that expulsion is a very serious matter and will always be handled on a case-by-case basis. While forgiveness and restitution are central to our discipline philosophy, if a learner and their parents are unable to resolve ongoing behavioral issues within a reasonable time, the learner may be separated from the program.

As a Christian ministry, BCLC partners with families to cultivate Christ-like character.

However, if the atmosphere or conduct within the home is in opposition to our Code of Conduct and biblical standards, the ministry reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to discontinue enrollment.

6. Academics 6.1 Classical Core (TK–10th Grade)

The Classical Core program provides instruction in core subjects through a Classical model with a Christian worldview, covering Bible Study, Math, Reading, Language Arts, History, Science, Geography, Character Development, and Foreign Language, plus Classical music, art, and physical education.

6.2 Grading 6.2.1 Grading Philosophy

At Beachcities Classical Learning Center, grades communicate a learner’s level of mastery, understood as strong proficiency and long-term retention of academic content, to tutors, parents, learners, and administrators. Grades are meant to guide instruction and support academic growth, not define a learner’s identity or worth.

We teach our learners that their true identity is found in Christ. They are fully known, deeply loved, and redeemed through the work of the cross. Their value lies in being image bearers of God and adopted children in His family—not in their achievements or shortcomings. Our ultimate aim is to cultivate wisdom and virtue in each learner as they grow in knowledge and grace.

As a learning center—not a formal school—Beachcities Classical provides suggested grades rather than official academic records. These grades assist parents in evaluating progress and preparing transcripts for high school, college admissions, or other academic goals.

We believe that the pursuit of a particular grade should never overshadow the greater goal of mastering and delighting in a subject. Mastery is its own reward, and this principle shapes our grading practices. Learners may progress through subjects at different paces as tutors work closely with them to ensure a strong foundation for future learning.

6.2.2 Grade Reporting

Beachcities Classical does not issue official transcripts. We support homeschooling families by affirming the parent’s role as the primary educator and academic administrator.

Parents may use, adjust, or omit these grades when creating transcripts.

The final determination of a learner’s grade always rests with the parent.

6.2.3 Learner Progress Monitoring

Learner assignments and progress are communicated through ClassReach. Parents and learners are encouraged to check ClassReach regularly to: •

6.2.4 Grading Practices

Beachcities Classical uses a classical assessment model that values both academic mastery and character formation. Tutors assign suggested grades using both percentage-based letter grades and classical Latin descriptors.

6.2.6 Commitment to Excellence and Virtue

At Beachcities Classical, we seek to cultivate not just scholars, but wise and virtuous individuals who glorify God. True education is the pursuit of wisdom and virtue, grounded in truth, goodness, and beauty. Our academic policies exist to support this mission through clear expectations and loving accountability.

6.3 Academic Probation 6.3.1 Criteria for Academic Probation

A learner may be placed on academic probation for the following reasons: •

Incoming 6th Grader: A learner entering the Upper Program may be placed on probation if prior tutor recommendations or academic performance indicate insufficient readiness.

•

Failure to Maintain Minimum Academic Standards: A learner may be placed on probation if their average falls below 70% in any subject for a trimester.

•

Excessive Absences or Tardies: A pattern of absences or tardiness that negatively impacts academic progress may result in probation.

6.3.2 Probation Process

The probation process is designed to provide structured support and accountability: Step 1: Notification and Support Plan Parents are notified if a learner’s average falls below 70%. A support plan will be developed in collaboration with the tutor, which may include: •

Additional academic resources.

•

Outside tutoring (at the family’s expense).

•

Accommodated or scaffolded assignments.

Step 2: Implementation The learner must participate in the support plan by: •

Attending tutoring sessions (if applicable).

•

Completing all assigned work.

•

Making measurable progress.

Step 3: Progress Evaluation At the end of each term, the learner’s progress will be reviewed. If they have not met the 70% standard: •

The plan may be extended or adjusted.

•

Additional interventions may be introduced.

•

The learner will remain on probation until improvement is shown.

Step 4: Review and Determination At the conclusion of the probation period, administration will determine one of the following: •

Removal from probation if academic standards are met.

•

Extension of probation if some progress is evident.

•

Consideration for dismissal if insufficient progress is made despite support.

6.3.3 Excessive Probation Periods

If a learner remains on probation for two consecutive terms with minimal progress, administration will:

Conduct a Formal Intervention Meeting with parents, tutors, and the learner.

•

Implement a Revised Support Plan for a final probationary term.

•

Consider academic dismissal if all efforts have been exhausted and the learner continues to struggle.

6.3.4 Academic Dismissal and Grade Retention

Additional actions may be taken for learners consistently failing to meet academic expectations: Grade Retention or Dismissal may occur due to: •

Failure to earn passing grades in multiple subjects.

•

Ongoing failure to complete assignments.

•

Attendance issues that hinder progress.

•

Unwillingness to cooperate with academic support efforts.

Tuition Responsibility: If a learner is dismissed, the family remains responsible for tuition for that term, as outlined in the tuition agreement.

6.3.5 Discharge from Beachcities Classical

While we are committed to supporting each learner, we acknowledge that some learners may require academic, behavioral, or spiritual support beyond our scope.

If a learner is unable to thrive within the program despite reasonable interventions, dismissal may be necessary to preserve the integrity of our mission.

The Head of Program reserves the right to dismiss a learner at any time for failure to meet academic, behavioral, or spiritual expectations—even prior to the completion of a formal probationary period.

6.4 Learners with Learning Disabilities

Beachcities Classical affirms that children with learning disabilities are created in the image of God and worthy of an excellent, Christ-centered education. However, our program does not have the resources to serve children who require: •

A separate classroom.

•

A dedicated program or modified curriculum.

•

Specialized faculty or services.

6.4.1 Admission Criteria for Learners with Learning Disabilities •

Learners must meet all standard admission requirements.

Learners must be able to function successfully in a traditional classroom with limited accommodations.

6.4.2 Support Guidelines •

Learners will be expected to meet the same academic standards as their peers.

Reasonable accommodations may be provided in consultation with the Head of Program, tutor(s), and parents.

•

Parents must disclose any known or suspected learning disabilities during enrollment.

•

If diagnosed after enrollment, parents should notify both the tutor(s) and Head of Program to ensure appropriate support is provided.

6.5 Academic Honesty

Beachcities Classical learners are expected to uphold our Code of Conduct, including academic integrity. As part of our core principle Always Do the Right Thing, learners must complete their own work on all assignments, quizzes, and exams.

Plagiarism—including content generated or copied from AI tools, online sources, or textbooks without citation—is strictly prohibited.

Violations Include: •

Copying or pasting content from websites or AI tools without citation.

•

Submitting work that is not the learner’s own.

•

Using technology to bypass the learning process.

6.5.1 Consequences for Plagiarism •

First Offense: Meeting with learner, parents, and staff/faculty. Assignment must be redone.

•

Subsequent Offenses: Dismissal from the program.

We encourage learners to pursue mastery with diligence and humility and to seek help when needed rather than resorting to dishonest shortcuts.

6.6 AI Use Policy

While AI is an emerging tool in society, Beachcities Classical prohibits its use in learner work. We believe AI undermines authentic learning, creativity, and the development of wisdom and virtue.

Prohibited Uses Include: •

Generating or editing written work.

Assisting with research, outlines, or proofreading.

•

Using AI-based apps or extensions to complete any part of an assignment.

If a learner is unsure whether a tool uses AI, they must ask their tutor before use.

Consequences for AI Use: •

Redoing the assignment as specified by the tutor.

•

Receiving no credit.

•

Suspension or dismissal depending on severity and recurrence.

Ethics and Discernment: In the Upper Program, tutors may introduce ethical discussions about technology and AI as part of a broader Christian worldview, helping learners develop discernment in a rapidly changing digital culture.

6.7 Home-Study Philosophy and Guidelines 6.7.1 Home-Study Philosophy

At Beachcities Classical Learning Center, home-study is assigned thoughtfully and purposefully as an extension of classroom learning. While in-class instruction is foundational to mastery, we recognize that reinforcement, review, and independent practice are essential components of a learner’s academic and spiritual formation.

Home-study assignments serve multiple purposes, all of which support our mission to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and academic excellence.

A. Reinforcement of Learning Learners often benefit from additional practice when engaging with new concepts, skills, or facts. In subjects such as math, Latin, or grammar, classroom time may not allow for the repetition needed to achieve full mastery. After adequate in-class

instruction and guided practice, tutors may assign home-study to reinforce content and provide meaningful opportunities for independent growth.

B. Spaced Practice for Retention Educational research and classroom experience affirm that short, distributed periods of study are more effective for long-term retention than one extended session. Home-study enables learners to revisit material incrementally, strengthening memory, comprehension, and the ability to apply knowledge over time.

C. Partnership with Parents As a learning center that partners with homeschooling families, we affirm the essential role of parents in the learning process. Home-study assignments provide a natural point of engagement between parents and learners, allowing parents to monitor academic progress, support skill development, and foster meaningful conversations about the material. This partnership builds accountability and encourages the cultivation of discipline, attentiveness, and responsibility in the home.

6.7.2 Home-Study Guidelines

To ensure that home-study is purposeful, balanced, and supportive of family life, the following guidelines are observed: A. Quality Over Quantity Tutors are expected to prioritize the quality of assignments rather than the volume.

Every effort is made to keep home-study at a reasonable and developmentally appropriate level.

B. Wise Use of Class Time Learners who do not use class time productively may be required to complete unfinished classwork at home, in addition to regularly assigned home-study.

C. Varying Needs by Grade and Learner The amount of time needed for home-study will vary based on grade level and individual learner differences. Older learners will typically have a greater home-study load than younger learners. Likewise: •

Learners who are focused, diligent, and academically strong may complete work more quickly.

•

Learners who find the material more challenging may require more time to complete assignments.

D. Home-Study on Weekends Home-study is generally not assigned over weekends, allowing time for family, rest, and worship. However, weekend homework may be necessary, including but not limited to the following situations: •

Completing unfinished work from the week

•

Studying for an upcoming assessment

•

Working on a long-term project

•

Practicing memory work

•

Reading in preparation for an upcoming Socratic discussion

E. Late Assignments Assignments submitted late will have the grade reduced by 10% for each day late.

Assignments will not be accepted for credit more than two days after the due date, unless the learner was absent.

F. Seniors Seniors are expected to submit all assignments on time, regardless of absence or illness.

G. Absences Learners in 11th grade and below who are absent on the day an assignment is given or due will receive a reasonable extension. The extension will generally not exceed the number of program days missed. It is the learner’s responsibility to obtain missing assignments. For extended absences due to illness, parents should contact tutors directly.

H. Planned Absences If a learner will miss part of the program day for a planned event (athletic event, appointment, etc.), all home-study due that day must be submitted prior to departure.

I. Transitioning learners New or transitioning learners may require additional time to catch up on assignments as they adjust to the program’s academic expectations.

7. Parent Responsibilities Partnering with parents is crucial to learner success at Beachcities Classical. Parents are responsible for the following:

7.1 Record Keeping

All families must file and maintain an annual Private School Affidavit (PSA) for their child, refiled yearly between October 1st and 15th. A step-by-step guide is available on our website. BCLC does not conduct formal academic evaluations; parents must complete these as the PSA Administrator. Parents must maintain academic records, including work samples, report cards, and transcripts. Information is available on the BCLC website, but BCLC cannot complete these records for families.

Alternatives for meeting the compulsory schooling requirement include registration with a PSP or ISP Charter. Our program strongly encourages families to file a PSA.

7.1.1 Academic Surveys

As a learning center, not a school, BCLC cannot complete evaluations. Parents who file a PSA are their child’s Primary Administrator and must complete any evaluations, such as for future program applications, using the name under which the PSA was filed.

7.2 Parent Training Requirements

Parent Practicum, required for all families, occurs over three sessions from 6:00-7:30p.m.

Attendance at all sessions is mandatory. Failure to attend without prior communication or approved arrangements will be considered an unwillingness to uphold the partnership. Non-participation may result in the forfeiture of financial aid, impact future enrollment, or lead to separation from Beachcities Classical Learning Center.

New families will complete our introductory course, which explains the foundations of Classical Education and how it differs from traditional educational models.

Returning families will continue to deepen their knowledge and training on specific subjects and learn more in-depth strategies to implement at home to aid in their learner(s)’s education.

7.3 Volunteer Hours

Strong family involvement is foundational to our program. Daily on-campus participation from families is not only encouraged—it is essential. All families are expected to actively volunteer throughout the entire program year (September-May).

Each family is required to complete a minimum of eight (8) volunteer hours per enrolled child during the program year.

Opportunities include: •

Supervising learners during lunch and recess

•

Assisting with classroom activities, celebrations, or projects

•

Providing direct assistance in your child’s classroom

•

Contributing skilled services

Volunteer hours may be fulfilled by parents, guardians, or extended family. Families are required to fulfill one-half of the required volunteer hours by January 15, 2027. A fee of $100 per unserved hour will be assessed if requirements are not met.

All accounts must be current by February 1, 2027 in order for learners to continue on campus attendance.

7.4 Communication

In order to partner effectively with Beachcities Classical, parents are expected to communicate regularly with their learner’s tutor, respond to emails, and manage their learner’s home-study. Parents are also expected to participate in monitoring learning progress with their learner’s tutor and support their learner in completing all home-study assignments by the assigned due date. Beachcities Classical also provides all the training and support needed for our parents to do this successfully.

ClassReach - The Parent of Record* will receive ongoing communication through ClassReach. Communications will be sent to the contact information submitted in ClassReach. In order to add/update contact information, please log into your ClassReach profile to edit. The Parent of Record can also send an update to info@beachcitiesclassical.com (Divorced parents must make arrangements for program communication independently and update their documentation accordingly.)

8. General Program Information 8.1 Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival: Doors open at 8:10 a.m., and program begins promptly at 8:20 a.m. All learners should be dropped off directly at their assigned classroom. To support a smooth start to the day and provide a positive transition for all learners, parents should say their goodbyes and exit the classroom by 8:19 a.m.

Dismissal: The program day concludes at 2:00 p.m. Parents or authorized guardians must come into the building and pick up their learner(s) directly from their classroom. Beachcities Classical does not provide before or after child care services; therefore, learners must be picked up promptly at dismissal.

Any learner who has not been picked up by 2:15 p.m. will be brought to administration for supervision. A late pick-up fee of $25 per 15-minute increment will be charged beginning at 2:15 p.m. and will continue until the learner is picked up.

Bike Usage: Learners who ride bicycles (including e-bikes) to and from campus must walk their bikes while on Beachcities Community Church property, including when entering from the campus entrance to the bike rack and when exiting from the bike rack to the sidewalk. Bicycles should not be ridden on campus grounds in order to help maintain a safe environment for all learners and families.

The heart behind this expectation is the safety and well-being of our learners. We want to ensure that all learners can arrive and depart safely without the risk of injury.

Families who choose to have their learner bring a bike to campus are responsible for providing a bike lock to secure the bicycle while on campus. Additionally, helmets must be worn and fastened at all times whenever a bicycle is being ridden.

Additionally, families must provide written authorization via email to administration explicitly stating that their learner has permission to leave campus without a parent or guardian present at dismissal.

Timeliness is essential.

For Parents: Arriving on time ensures your child does not miss critical instructional time and helps maintain a smooth, focused start to the day.

For Learners: Being on time is a responsibility. Arriving late disrupts your learning and the learning of others.

Monday Morning Meeting: Beachcities Classical begins each week with a unified Morning Meeting for all learners. This time includes prayer, the singing of a hymn, and the recitation of the Pledges of Allegiance to the Bible, the Christian flag, and the American flag.

Families are warmly encouraged to stay and join us for our Monday Morning Meeting each week.

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Morning Meetings: Morning Meetings continue throughout the week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday within each classroom.

These gatherings include the same elements; prayer, hymn singing, and the pledges, providing a consistent and meaningful start to each day.

8.2 Attendance and Absences

To support academic progress, learners are expected to attend the program each scheduled day. Regular attendance fosters discipline, engagement, and understanding through interaction with tutors and peers. Absences can create knowledge gaps and hinder performance. Excessive unexcused absences may result in a review of the learner’s enrollment Although we ask all families to make every effort to plan vacation and travel within the program holidays, we do realize that there are times when this is not possible.

When parents and learners know of a planned absence (e.g. mission trip, vacation), they should send an email at least one week (two weeks is preferred) in advance explaining the future absence to the tutor(s). Tutors will do their best to prepare materials ahead of time for the learner to complete. All work provided to the learner prior to pre-arranged absences must be submitted upon return from the absence.

Because in-class time cannot be duplicated outside the classroom, there may be material or activities missed that cannot be completed and grades may be affected by missed time.

8.3 Purchase of Core Program Materials

Textbooks and literature are secured upon completion of enrollment and payment of materials fees. Families receive a list distinguishing consumable and nonconsumable materials. Learners must bring daily materials (pencils, paper, etc.), provided by families.

8.4 Monthly Community Events

Community Events are a special time for the Beachcities Classical families to come together, build friendships, and enjoy fun activities. These gatherings provide opportunities for connection outside the classroom in a fun and engaging environment.

Once a month, we organize a special outing or event—such as a field trip, sporting event, celebration, or other fun activity—typically on a Wednesday when we do not have regular programming, though occasionally these events may take place

on another day of the week. On all other Wednesdays, we encourage families to meet at a local park to work on home-study together or simply enjoy time with our wonderful community.

Information about each event is shared regularly through the newsletter and ClassReach. Community Events are not drop-off events—learners must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Most activities are free, though some may require an admission fee, which will be communicated in advance.

8.5 Medication Procedures

Contact administration for medication arrangements. Severe allergy plans must be documented, and tutors trained accordingly. Staff/faculty cannot administer non-emergency medications.

8.6 Restroom Policy

Learners must manage restroom needs independently.

8.7 Learner Injuries During Program

Injuries will be reported to our staff/faculty for first aid and documentation. In emergencies, 911 is called, and parents are contacted. Keep contact information current in ClassReach.

8.8 Safe and Secure Campus

All participants must model civility and respect per the Code of Conduct. Our campus remains locked during program hours; call 657-259-7913 for entry during program hours.

All guests must check in upon arrival and receive a guest lanyard from Security.

8.9 Labeling Personal Items

Label backpacks, lunch bags, water bottles, and removable clothing with the learner’s last name to prevent loss. All unmarked and unclaimed items will be donated at the end of each term.

8.10 Nutrition

Learners are encouraged to bring a morning snack, and need to bring lunch each day to program. Parents are expected to provide a healthy and nutritious lunch with utensils for their learner(s). Excessive sugary sweets, candy, soda, sports drinks, and caffeinated beverages are prohibited. Water is encouraged throughout the day, including snack times. Learners will not have access to refrigerator space or microwaves. Therefore, lunch should be packed such that it is ready to eat without the need for refrigeration or a microwave oven.

8.11 Care of BCLC Materials & Equipment

Learners must treat materials with care and follow their tutor’s guidelines and instructions so that the materials can continue to be used in the future. Intentional damage, or damage due to improper care, will require family replacement.

8.12 Tech-Lite Campus

At Beachcities Classical, we recognize the benefits and potential distractions of personal technology and have opted to be a tech-lite campus, meaning that we keep technology usage to a minimum. We have established the following guidelines for all personal technology devices, including but not limited to: cell phones; smartwatches (e.g., Apple Watch); tablets; laptops; e-readers (e.g., Kindle); and any other personal electronic devices. Beachcities Classical is not liable for any lost or damaged electronic devices brought to campus.

Learners may bring personal technology devices to campus; however, all devices must be turned off and stored in their backpacks before the start of program at 8:20am. Devices must remain in backpacks until program concludes at 2:00.

Use of personal technology is not permitted during the program day, including in classrooms, hallways, blacktop, and common areas.

If a parent or guardian needs to communicate with a learner during the program day, they may do so at any time by calling 657-259-7913.

Exceptions for classroom use: Technology may only be used for educational purposes at the explicit direction of a tutor or in an emergency situation.

Violations of this policy: If a learner uses a personal device inappropriately, the device will be held by administration and may be collected by a parent or guardian at the end of the day. Repeated violations may result in further consequences.

By adhering to this policy, we can ensure a focused and engaging learning environment for all learners.

8.13 Personal Items

Learners should not bring personal items to the program unless they are specifically required for learning. This includes, but is not limited to, toys, trading cards, body spray, or other non-essential items. Such items can cause distractions and are not permitted at program.

8.14 Photo Release

Complete the photo release form in the Enrollment Packet authorizing Beachcities to photograph your learner. If you do not want your child photographed, indicate on the photo release.

9. Uniform Policy Learners are invited to “dress the part” as professional scholars. Parents are the primary enforcers of the uniform policy. Learners are expected to uphold a neat and professional standard of dress by wearing clean, unwrinkled, and properly maintained uniform items at all times.

Uniform Rationale Our uniform policy is designed to create and maintain an environment that supports learning by minimizing distractions and promoting focus, unity, and excellence. This policy is rooted in the following principles: Heart and Character: All outward actions, including clothing, reflect the condition of the heart. A uniform policy allows us to address these heart issues consistently rather than managing the many individual expressions that can arise under a more lenient dress code.

Vocational Focus :Clothing communicates vocation and identity. Our uniform helps create an atmosphere where undue attention is not drawn to individual learners. A neat and orderly appearance fosters a ready-to-learn environment.

Community and Unity :Uniforms promote a cohesive program identity. When learners are in uniform, they visibly demonstrate that they are part of the same team, pursuing the same goals of excellence and working together under a shared tradition.

Stewardship and Focus: Uniforms help reduce the social pressure and expense associated with fashion trends. By de-emphasizing outward appearance, the policy encourages learners to focus on character development and academic growth while allowing parents to be good stewards of their finances.

Safety and Security: Uniforms enhance program security. On field trips and around campus, learners in uniform are easily identifiable by staff/faculty, which helps ensure learner safety and allows tutors to quickly account for everyone.

Learners are expected to be in full uniform while on campus unless otherwise specified by the administration. The administration is responsible for interpreting the uniform policy, while enforcement is a shared responsibility of parents, administration, and faculty.

9.1.1 Hygiene and Grooming

At Beachcities Classical, we believe personal hygiene and grooming reflect self-respect, respect for others, and readiness to learn. Learners are expected to maintain good hygiene and a neat, distraction-free appearance.

Grooming Guidelines Hair must be clean and neatly groomed at all times and kept out of the eyes.

Gentlemen: Hair must not extend below the shoulders.

Ladies: Hair should be neatly styled and kept out of the face.

Unnatural hair colors and extreme hairstyles (such as mullets or mohawks) that draw undue attention are not permitted.

Learners are expected to practice good daily hygiene, including regular bathing, brushing teeth, and using deodorant as needed.

These standards help create a respectful and focused learning environment consistent with our Core Values.

Grades 5 and Below: No makeup permitted.

•

Grades 6 and Up: Modest, natural makeup allowed; excessive makeup will be addressed by tutors/administrators.

Nail polish may be worn provided it is not a distraction in class and learners can participate fully and effectively.

9.2 Violation of Uniform Policy •

First Occurrence: Verbal reminder; parents notified via email.

Second Occurrence: Parents contacted, and either a change of clothes must be provided, or the learner will be sent home. A formal notice will be issued.

Continued Violations: Repeated or ongoing violations of the uniform policy reflect a failure to uphold our Core Values — particularly “Always Ready to Learn,” “Always Show Respect,” and “Always Do the Right Thing” — and may result in separation from the program, as determined by the Head of Program.

10. Tuition & Financial Responsibility 10.1 Tuition Payments

Tuition payments are due on the 1st of each month, beginning August 2026 and continuing through May 2027. If payment is not received by the end of the day on the 5th, a $45 late fee will be applied on the 6th. Beginning on the 7th, an additional $5 per day will be charged until the balance is paid in full.

These same late fees will apply to any returned checks or payments with insufficient funds.

Families may choose to prepay tuition in part or in full at any time without penalty.

Parents/guardians are financially responsible for ensuring timely payment of all tuition and fees associated with enrollment.

10.2 Termination of Enrollment Program participation may be terminated by Beachcities Classical with immediate effect at its discretion.

Learner Withdrawal: Beachcities Classical Learning Center makes financial commitments (i.e., facilities, supplies, curriculum, staff/faculty, etc.) that cannot be terminated in the event a learner withdraws from the program once the program year begins. For this reason, we have established the following policy: In the event a learner is withdrawn after the beginning of the program year, the individual who signed the BCLC Tuition Agreement must provide written notice to Beachcities Classical at least 30 days prior to the end of the current term enrolled. In this case, full tuition payment is still required through the end of that term.

If notice is given less than 30 days before the end of the current term, full tuition payment will be required through the end of the next program term.
