A: One of the most remarkable aspects has been working alongside the outstanding TRS staff. Their expertise, professionalism and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in driving meaningful progress. Whether it is providing comprehensive analysis, preparing thoughtful recommendations or answering member concerns with care and clarity, they consistently go above and beyond. Their efforts ensure that board members have the information and tools needed to make informed decisions that truly benefit our members. Q: Can you share any memorable experiences or achievements during your time as a trustee?

A: One of the most memorable and impactful experiences has been serving as the Benefits Committee Chair and having the honor and pleasure of witnessing the Governor sign Senate Bill 10 into law. SB 10 authorized Cost of Living Adjustments for eligible retirees. Hearing from members who directly benefited from this adjustment has been especially rewarding. Their gratitude underscores the importance of the decisions we make as trustees. Moments like these remind me why I chose to serve and how impactful our work can be for educators and retirees across Texas.

Q: How has being a board member impacted you?

A: It has been one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences, both personally and professionally. It is a unique opportunity to contribute to something larger than myself. I have gained valuable insights into governance, auditing, strategic planning, and decision making at one of the largest and most complex retirement systems in the nation.
