UNIFORM POLICY

2024-2025

POLICY OVERVIEW It is the desire of TKCA to glorify God in both the character and culture of the school. As ambassadors for Christ to each other and to a watching world, the following principles should guide our choice of attire: 1. Our actions and our attire should point to the Lord that we serve.

2. Our actions and our attire should portray a heart of both modesty and humility.

3. Our actions and attire should seek to reflect respectful conformity to our biological gender.

4. Our actions and our attire should not seek to exalt the outward beauty of the individual student but rather seek to invest in and protect the virtue and character of that portion of the Body of Christ that finds itself at TKCA. 5. Our actions and our attire should support the orderly operation of our school.

6. As we seek to invest in each other, our actions and our attire should support a school culture that requires a decreasing level of oversight in contrast to a culture of the individual that requires increased regulation and oversight and the loss of the freedom that we have in Christ. In light of the above, we ask that the parents and students support a manner of dress that reflects the Christian, classical, and scholarly image of TKCA. As such, TKCA students should appear neat, clean, and modest during the school day, seeking not to distract others or solicit oversight by their appearance.

GENERAL GROOMING Students are expected to look neat, clean and modest at all times. Therefore, in addition to the uniform requirements outlined below, the following requirements apply: HAIR: Hair should be neat and not covering the eyes.

Hair may not be dyed an unnatural color.

Hair accessories for girls and young ladies should be simple and not be a distraction to the class.

Hats are not permitted at school.

Hoods may not be worn in class.

BODIES: Boys and young men may not have piercings or wear choker style necklaces. Boys may wear one wrist bracelet.

Tattoos of any kind are not permitted for any student, this includes both permanent and temporary tattoos. Students are not permitted to write or draw on their hands, arms or face while at school. Drawings and temporary tattoos should be removed before coming to school.

All clothing should fit properly and have appropriate hem lengths for shorts, skirts, dresses and jumpers.

Primary girls - Hem length should be just above the knee.

Secondary girls - Hem length cannot be any shorter than 3 inches above the top of knee.

Girls may wear leggings, tights or knee high socks in black, navy, gray, white, red or a nude color under skirts, dresses or jumpers. Leggings may not be worn alone in the place of pants, shorts, skirts or jumpers. .

Sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece zip-ups, hoodies, cardigans, light jackets must be plain (no writing on them) or have the TKCA logo or other brand logo no bigger than 2"h x 3"w.

These clothing items may only be navy, red, white, khaki, grey or black in color. There should be no writing or design on them except what is permissible according to logo standards. Flannel shirts and jackets are prohibited for everyday wear and may not be worn in the place of sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece zip-ups, hoodies, cardigans or light jackets.

ATTIRE PURCHASING UNIFORM CLOTHING ITEMS Uniforms must be worn everyday unless otherwise notified.

School dress code colors are red and navy.

Polo shirts and collared shirts must be embroidered and may be red, navy, or white.

Button down shirts may be white or powdered blue as seen on the French Toast website.

Heavy coats and winter coats are not required to be embroidered.

French Toast

Students may also purchase items elsewhere and have items embroidered at Crivelli’s in Turlock, Margo’s Logo in Modesto, or Embroidery Squad in Ripon.

Pants and shorts must be either navy or khaki in color. Skirts, dresses, jumpers must be navy, khaki or plaid(navy and red). Jeans, athletic sweats, athletic shorts and leggings are not permitted.

Spirit shirts may be worn on Fridays unless other wise notified.

In the instance that it is unclear whether a student’s clothing is in compliance with the uniform policy, consequences will be left to the discretion of the administration of TKCA.

Kick Shorts: any color (must be worn under dresses, jumpers, skirts in K-6) Leggings: khaki, navy (may not be worn alone; ok to wear under dresses, jumpers, skirts)
