Uniform Policy
Purpose and Philosophy
Ouruniformpolicyexiststofosteralearningenvironmentwheredressisnotadistraction fromtheeducationalprocess.Itgrowsoutofseveralguidingprinciples:
1.HonortoGod:
WeseektohonorGodinallthings,acknowledgingtheLordshipofJesusChristinour choices includinghowwedress.
2.TheDispositionoftheHeart:
Outwardappearancereflectsinwardattitudes.Ratherthanpolicingcountlessvariations ofdress,wedesireasingle,thoughtfulpolicythathelpstrainthehearttowardmodesty anddiscipline.
3.VocationandPurpose: Clothingcommunicatesvocation.Aneat,uniformappearancepromotesanatmosphere thatisorderly,serious,andconducivetolearning.
4.UnityandCommunity: Uniformscreateacohesivepresentationamongourstudents.Whendressedalike, studentscommunicate visibly thattheyarepartofoneteam,pursuingexcellence together.
5.StewardshipandSimplicity:
Adefineduniformde-emphasizessocialcompetition,helpsfamiliesstewardresources wisely,andencouragesfocusoncharacterandacademics.
6.SafetyandIdentification:
Uniformsallowteachersandstafftoeasilydistinguishstudentsfromvisitors,contributing tocampussecurity.
Studentsareexpectedtobeinuniformwhileoncampusunlessotherwisespecifiedbythe administration.
Theadministrationinterpretsthispolicy,andparents,faculty,andstaffshare responsibilityforenforcement.

PROHIBITED ITEMS AND STYLES
Corduroy,denim,capris,cargopants,leggings(exceptunderskirts),hoodedsweaters,crew neckorhoodedsweatshirts,lightbluepoloshirts,snowboots,shoesthatlightup,sandals(or otheropen-toedshoes),hats,scarves,bandanas,lace,ruffles,orotherdistractingstyles.
Thefollowingarenotpermitted:dyedorunkempthair,boys’earrings,tornorsoiledclothing, excessivemakeuporjewelry,tattoos,visibleundergarmentsorcamisoles,orclothingthatis oversizedortootight.
CLARIFICATIONS
Headbands(Girls)
Maybeworninschoolcolors:navy,lightblue,white,khaki/tan,orneutraltones. Orangemaybeusedasamodestaccent(eg,thinstripeorsmallbow) Mustbesimpleinstyle solidorsubtlypatternedfabric,ribbon,orplainplastic. Notpermitted:glitter,sequins,rhinestones,largebowsorflowers,noveltydesigns,orloud patterns (e.g.,animalprint). Shouldcoordinatewiththeuniformandnotdrawundueattention.
Jewelry
Girls:Smallearringsontheearlobesarepermitted.Earringsontheupperearorother piercingsarenot.
Boys:Novisiblejewelry. Simple,modestwatchesorringsareallowedforbothgenders.
Hair
Boys’hairmustbeneatlytrimmed,notbelowthemiddleofthecollar,nothanginginthe eyes,andnot inabun.
Hairshouldremaininnaturalcolorsandtidyinappearance. Girlsmayusemodesthairaccessoriesthatcoordinatewiththeuniform.
OtherAccessories
Beltsshouldbeplainblackorbrownleatherorfabric. No-showsocksarenotpermitted.
Thermallayersmaybewornunderblouses(ifthesamecolorandnotvisible). Outercoatsmaybewornoutdoorsbutnotindoorsaspartoftheuniform.
Tops
Do the girls have to tuck all shirts in?
Elementarygirls:Yes
Secondarygirls:No,iftheywearabanded-bottomorneatlyfittedblouse.
Can boys wear oxfords with ties loose or top buttons undone?
No.Oxfordsandtiesmustbewornneatlywiththetopbuttonfastened.
May a sweater be worn without a polo or oxford underneath?
No.Sweatersmustbewornoverauniformshirt.
Are colored camisoles or undershirts allowed?
No Allundershirtsandcamisolesmustbewhiteandcompletelyhidden
Bottoms
Are yoga pants or running tights acceptable?
No.Onlyplainstockings,tights,ornylons(white,navy,black,orneutral)worn underneathaskirtorjumper.
What kind of socks may students wear?
Conservative,plain,andsolid-coloredsocksthatcoordinatewiththeoutfit (navy,khaki,white,orneutral).Nono-showsocks.
Shoes
Are athletic shoes allowed?
Elementary:Yes,ifconservative(nobrightcolorsorlight-upsoles).
Secondary:Dressshoesonly,unlessspecifiedotherwise.
Are Vans or skater shoes acceptable?

Can students wear dress boots?
