Ms. Abramovic’s “Star House” is a place of meditation and solitude. One of the buildings on the property is a converted barn, which serves as a workshop space, entertainment center, and contains a lofted guest house. The client requested a open concept modification of the existing deck. Perched above the carports below, the deck becomes an extension of the interior; a place where students of the Abramovic Method can gather or share a meal. Vertical slats veneered in polished aluminum reflect light inward from the southern wall, while the semi-transparent polycarbonate ceiling allows light to filter in all day. Built-in furniture will serve as transient objects to complete a permanent installation and will create a quiet place of meditation for Marina.
