Louisville City Schools Louisville City Schools embarks on a three-year plan In the summer of 2014, Louisville City Schools embarked on a three-year strategic plan, in an effort to bring the district together and moving forward in the same direction, creating the best possible atmosphere for academic achievement for our students. Listed below are some updates on just a few of the goals created in the strategic plan. EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION They continue to implement and improve communication between teachers and parents through the use of web-based platforms like Parent Internet Viewer and teacher web pages. This spring they are launching a survey to discover best methods of communication from parents and how to improve. They also have updated the website (www.leopard. sparcc.org) to keep the community informed of positive stories on students’ achievements. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT Right now, an important program in the educational landscape is Response to Intervention

(RTI). They have implemented this in all buildings to identify at-risk students and work with them to find success. They have made online ACT prep courses available to boost students’ scores, worked to accurately align curriculum between grade levels and have been promoting R.G. Drage to students and parents through open house and field trips. Boy’s lacrosse club is an exciting new addition to our extracurricular lineup this spring, and we hope to add a girl’s lacrosse club next year. The Lady Leopard Swim team finished their season with an outstanding 10-0 record. This accomplishment has only occurred one other time in school history. The Boys basketball program is having an exceptional year at all levels. The 7th, 8th, 9th, junior varsity and varsity teams all won the NBC this year. BUILDINGS & SAFETY They continue to upgrade the district’s safety infrastructure though new camera systems in certain buildings and upgraded security entrances at North Nimishillen and the middle school. They also added 10 new cameras on our buses. TECHNOLOGY We live in a hi-tech world and our schools must be capable of handling these advancements. The district has upgraded the technology infrastructure in all buildings, making everything wireless. More than 600 Chromebooks have been purchased to be utilized in Louisville classrooms and for PARCC online testing. They have also updated the phone system at the middle school to further improve communication.
