Hey Orcas!

Hey Orcas!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It is 2023 that is UNBELIEVABLE! Time flew by, because it is already time to elect the next Lieutenant Governor! I’m going to get replaced! Can you believe it? Alongside that, we are now in the 4th quarter of the Key Club term! When running a marathon, you should always finish strong and SPRINT! I hope all of sprint through this last quarter in both Key Club and the school year! There are still so many fun things to participate in especially DCON! This year it is in Ontario, CA, meaning it is relatively close, so try to make it! It is a great experience and is honestly one of the best events to rejuvenate your love for Key Club! Anyway, thank you for being a part of D37W and I hope to see you at our next event!

Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s already 2023?! I’m wishing you all the best this year and for all your goals and dreams to come true. We have one more quarter of the term left, so let’s finish strong! We still have so much more in store for Key Club in the upcoming months, such as Conclave(Where we get to elect a new LTG!), Sweethearts Picnic, Banquet, and most exciting: DCON! Make sure you keep those fundraisers coming to save up for trip to DCON! In this newsletter, we’ll be recapping on your service from November and December. Once again, thank you so much for your hard work. I’m looking forward to D37W can accomplish in 2023.

Sincerely Your DNE, Joshua Racela

Vista Christmas Parade

On Saturday, December 3rd the City of Vista held their 64th Annual Christmas Parade. Through donations, Kiwanis hosted a book distribution during the parade. Mission Vista Key Club members along with other school members were able to hand out 3,500 books to children on the parade route. We all walked along the parade giving smiles and waves and handing out books from bags to all the kids. It was so exciting to see all the children's faces when handing out all the books. Our club also participated in this event last year, so it was amazing to catch up with other Kiwanis members. We had a great time and we are looking forward to working with them again.

December DCM

Are you in the holiday spirit? Because Division 37 West is! On December 17, 2022, D37W Orcas gathered at MLK Park for their December DCM. After LTG Asia Chan went over a division updates, members participated in a White Elephant game. Spirit Team Member Jacob Racela received a BTS Jimin photocard and Division GraphicDesignerMaiaDelacruzwasgiftedamugandcandycanes. Thereafter, Key Clubbers began decorated holiday-themed cookies for senior citizens. Some used hard candies and black frosting to make Christmas lights on their cookies. By mixing the white and blue frosting,someorcasmadeatie-dyeeffectontheircookies.Overall,it was nice to enjoy the holiday season with fellow Key Clubbers, exercisefungift-giving,andserveourcommunitywithdelicioustreats.

ClubElections

Around 2 to 3 months before the end of the term, elections are held for new club, division, and district officers of the next term. This means that current officers of this term will be retiring soon and a new board of officers are elected to take their place.

DCON marks the end of the current term and the start of the next term. New officers must be trained before the end of the current term, making sure that they are prepared for the next term. To run for a club position make sure to contact your president! Club Positions May Include: ● President ● Vice President ● Secretary ● Treasurer ● Editor Clubs make sure you follow proper procedures when holding elections such as 50% of dues paid members are being given a ballot and an advisor is counting the votes!

Club Elections must be held by February 10th
