Sara Ann Curmi
Sara’s project examines the drive to create a space dedicated to music and dance in Gozo for the community, with an aim to engage the community in social, educational and recreational activities irrespective of their age, gender and race. Numerous cultural events take place during the year to promote culture which tend to focus on traditional aspects of Gozitan culture, such as “ghana” and Maltese folk dance. Yet Gozitan individuals have taken it upon themselves to build
their own platforms on which to showcase their work. Therefore, the intent of this community centre is to help those individuals who want to learn music and dance but also for artists. It is time to appreciate the arts and give the community a space with the finest facilities such as professional recording studios, dance studios, classrooms and a small-scaled theatre, where they can learn, network and showcase their talent in a friendly, interactive and accessible environment.
