Key Topics for Revision

You need to remember how you answered questions from the practice exam papers you completed in class. You should consolidate your skills with practice at home.

For section A: Exploring writers’ viewpoints and perspectives you will need to:

• Summarise information and find links between two nonfiction texts

• -explore the writers’ use of language to affect the reader

• -identify the writers’ viewpoints and perspectives in a text(s).

For section B: Writing to express a viewpoint

You will need to write an extended piece of writing for a specific purpose, presenting a well organised and coherent point of view about a given topic.

You will be asked to write for a specific purpose e.g. ‘Write a speech persuading your local MP to improve services to support young people in your local area’ or ‘Write an article for the school magazine in which you explain why social media can negatively affect your mental health.’

You should practise each stage of the writing process: planning, drafting and crafting. You will need to check each sentence for: accuracy, clarity, concision, and precision of expression.
