Orchard Hills Defence Base THE future of the Orchard Hills defence base is being considered in a parliamentary white paper. Parliamentary secretary for defence support Mike Kelly visited the base on Tuesday and said the site was “very important” in the government’s defence strategies. “It’s a very important part of our defence force establishment,” Mr Kelly

said. “There are about 100 permanent defence force personnel and 500 employees all together. “It’s future is being considered in the context of the defence white paper. It’s obviously a site we take a great deal of interest in.” The Royal Australian Air Force defence facility covers an area of 2029ha and is primarily used for storage and distribution. Mr Kelly has been in talks with Federal Lindsay MP David Bradbury about the site’s future. “It’s one of the largest providers of jobs in our community,” Mr Bradbury said. “It also has significant environmental and heritage values. I’d certainly like the site to play the critical role that it is for the national defence effort.”

Rohan chose the colours for the notes but found ‘f’ quite a problem till he thought of fuschia for the pink sticker. a=aqua b=brown c=crimson d=dark blue e=ebony f=fuscia g=green.
