Longer Opening Times Receive Approval Two East Sussex holiday parks given approval to extend their opening seasons say they anticipate a rise in the number of local people buying holiday homes. Coghurst Hall holiday park, in Hastings, and Beauport holiday park, in St Leonards, both owned by Park Holidays UK, will now close for just two weeks each February for planned improvements. Previously, they had eleven month local authority licences. Park Holidays UK director Tony Clish said: “We already have a significant number of holiday home owners who live in Hastings and other nearby areas. “It is especially popular among people who work shifts and unsocial hours, such as police and medical staff, as they can often find time for escapes during the week. “Those who live where they work, such as publicans or the self-employed, also often buy holiday homes so that they can have a frequent change of scenery. “We also include local anglers amongst owners at Coghurst Hall as the park has a magnificent and well-stocked fishing lake which attracts visitors from across the UK. “Knowing that they will be able to use their holiday home virtually year-round will certainly add to the appeal of these parks to all types of buyers.”
Law Firms Merge Leading Sussex solicitors Mayo Wynne Baxter expanded further across the county on July 4 when they officially merged with established law firm Stuckey Carr & Co. This will now see the firm operating out of Storrington and Pulborough. This merger is the third that the law firm will have completed in the past two years following the acquisition of Allen Ticehurst solicitors in East Grinstead in 2012 and Forest Row firm PR Vince in October last year. The completion of this deals means that Mayo Wynne Baxter will have eight offices in Sussex including long-established
bases in Eastbourne, Seaford, Lewes and Brighton. Stuckey Carr & Co was established in Sussex in 1843 and senior partner, Robin Carr, is the third generation of his family to have been at the firm. Along with partner, Peter Jones, Robin will remain as a consultant post-merger. Mayo Wynne Baxter’s chief executive Chris Randall said: “This is a great move for both firms and means that clients in Storrington and Pulborough will have access to a much broader range of legal services.”
