MOVERS AND SHAKERS New appointment at the City of Edinburgh Council Paul Lawrence has been appointed as Executive Director – Place for the City of Edinburgh Council. He will be responsible for the development and delivery of frontline services across the city as part of the role, created under the Council’s new organisational structure.
Brand Satellite appoints New Business Development Manager Brand Satellite has recently welcomed Jessica Armstrong to the team as their New Business Development Manager. She brings to the role 15 years’ experience delivering communication strategies, implementing marketing campaigns and developing business opportunities in professional services and the creative industries.
The post is accountable for a range of major council services including travel and transport, housing, planning, waste and recycling and street cleansing. Council Leader, Andrew Burns, chaired the Recruitment Committee. He said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Lawrence as Executive Director – Place. The calibre of applicant for the role was exceptionally strong and I am certain that we have chosen the right candidate for this new and important position. Paul Lawrence began his local government career as arts director for Durham City Council before moving to Northern Arts as
assistant chief executive in 1997. His most recent position, as Corporate Director, Place, at Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, has involved responsibility for the borough’s ‘Place’ services including waste and recycling, planning, transport and housing. Since joining the council in 2010, Paul has led on the development of new models of citizen engagement and service delivery throughout the borough, as well as overseeing corporate transformation and future strategy as part of the Corporate Leadership team.
Brand Satellite – a brand consultancy and integrated advertising, design and marketing agency – joined the Chamber in January this year. They provide a range of creative services to start-ups, SMEs and public sector organisations, throughout Edinburgh and Central Scotland. Jessica will be helping new clients to take advantage of a full spectrum of marketing communications solutions, from initial brand workshops and brand identity creation to integrated marketing strategy and implementation. Senior appointment in commercial property Murray Beith Murray has announced the appointment of Bill Meldrum as a Senior Associate within the Edinburgh-based law firm with a remit to develop their Commercial Property services. Bill brings ten years of experience in legal practice to the role having worked in several commercial law firms including Maclay Murray & Spens LLP. Leading Childcare provider appoints new Company Manager Tracey Bellany has more than 11 years childcare experience. Tracey joined East Lothian Out of School Care Network (ELOSCN) in 2004 as a Play Practitioner and progressed to Club Manager in 2007, stepping up to Interim Company Manger November 2014 and was delighted to be appointed to the role permanently in June of this year. ELOSCN is a Charity Organisation set up in 2003 with the help of East Lothian Council and the National Lottery to provide affordable quality childcare. Tracey is building a strong team of people who are passionate about children and the care they receive. Furthermore her aim for the children and young people who use the services is to ensure the best possible standard of care, whilst offering a range of play experiences, and opportunities to extend play, build new relationships and master new skills.
