What are the must-do routes? And which are your favourites?
“For the spring and summer season, I can’t help but mention among my favourite routes the traverse from San Lucio to Monte Bar in Capriasca or the climb to the summit of Monte Tamaro and then down to Arosio.
In winter, however, it is the Carona woods that in my opinion offer the most interesting variants and the routes that I prefer.”
What makes the Lugano region special for cycling enthusiasts?
“The Lugano region presents a variety of scenery and offers the possibility of varying one’s routes without ever getting bored! What makes it special is precisely the variety also from a technical point of view: between roots, stones and well-maintained routes, at high altitude and on the lakeshore, there is the possibility of having fun every day. In fact, the climate of the region is also a key element: personally, I can train on our routes all year round, thanks to the mild, dry climate in winter and the lower temperatures offered by the forests during the summer.”
Quali sono i percorsi migliori? E quali i tuoi preferiti?
“Per la stagione primaverile ed estiva non posso non citare tra i percorsi che preferisco la trasversata che dal San Lucio raggiunge il Monte Bar in Capriasca oppure la scalata che giunge in vetta al Monte Tamaro per poi discendere su Arosio. Nel periodo invernale sono invece i boschi di Carona che a mio avviso offrono le varianti più interessanti e i percorsi che preferisco.”
Cosa rende la regione del Luganese speciale per gli appassionati delle due ruote?
“La regione del Luganese presenta una varietà di scenari e offre la possiblità di variare i propri percorsi senza mai annoiarsi! A renderla speciale è proprio la varietà anche dal punto divista tecnico, tra radici, sassi e percorsi curati, in alta quota e in riva al lago c’è la possibilità di divertirsi ogni giorno. Infatti anche il clima della regione è un elemento fondamentale: personalmente riesco ad allenarmi sui nostri percorsi tutto l’anno, grazie al clima mite e asciutto d’inverno e alle temperature più ridotte offerte dai boschi durante l’estate.”

“Für die Frühlings- und Sommersaison kann ich nicht umhin, die Überschreitung von San Lucio zum Monte Bar in Capriasca oder den Aufstieg zum Gipfel des Monte Tamaro und den Abstieg nach Arosio als meine Lieblingsrouten zu nennen. Im Winter sind es jedoch die Wälder von Carona, die meiner Meinung nach die interessantesten Varianten und die von mir bevorzugten Routen bieten.”
Was macht die Region Lugano für Radsportbegeisterte so besonders?
“Die Region Lugano ist landschaftlich sehr abwechslungsreich und bietet die Möglichkeit, die Routen zu variieren, ohne dass es jemals langweilig wird! Das Besondere ist die Abwechslung auch in technischer Hinsicht: Zwischen Wurzeln, Steinen und gut gepflegten Wegen, in grosser Höhe und am Seeufer, kann man jeden Tag Spass haben. Auch das Klima der Region ist ein Schlüsselelement: Ich persönlich kann das ganze Jahr über auf unseren Strecken trainieren, dank des milden, trockenen Klimas im Winter und der niedrigeren Temperaturen, die die Wälder im Sommer bieten.”

“ Pour le printemps et l’été, je ne peux m’empêcher de citer parmi mes itinéraires préférés la traversée de San Lucio au Monte Bar à Capriasca ou la montée au sommet du Monte Tamaro et la descente à Arosio. Mais en hiver, ce sont les bois de Carona qui offrent, à mon avis, les variantes les plus intéressantes et les itinéraires que je préfère. ”
Qu’est-ce qui rend la région de Lugano spéciale pour les amateurs de cyclisme ?
“ La région de Lugano présente une grande variété de paysages et offre la possibilité de varier les itinéraires sans jamais se lasser ! Ce qui fait sa particularité, c’est justement la variété, y compris d’un point de vue technique : entre les racines, les pierres et les routes bien entretenues, en altitude et au bord du lac, il est possible de s’amuser tous les jours. En fait, le climat de la région est également un élément clé : personnellement, je peux m’entraîner sur nos itinéraires toute l’année, grâce au climat doux et sec en hiver et aux températures plus basses qu’offrent les forêts en été. ”

In your opinion, what makes Lugano an artistic and cultural destination?
“Lugano was already fertile with art and culture, thanks to the presence of the MASI, the LAC and the Museo delle Culture, and some extraordinary private initiatives such as the Olgiati Foundation or even the Braglia Foundation. With the Bally Foundation’s programme, the intention is to broaden the offer, on a complementary level. Collaboration and dialogue with existing institutions is undoubtedly of great importance, as is the establishment of a privileged link with the Università della Svizzera italiana for development and research programmes. At this point, the natural beauty of the city and the diverse range of artistic and cultural programmes can help to make Lugano a truly unique place.”
Arte e cultura, sostenibilità e digitalizzazione. Ci può spiegare come questi temi sono rappresentati presso Bally Foundation?
“Tramite mostre, residenze artistiche, e una serie di eventi come seminari, colloqui, performance e programmi educativi. La Bally Foundation propone pure programmi specifici, video d’artisti e progetti di ricerca per esplorare tutti i campi delle nuove tecnologie in rapporto con l’arte e la creazione.”
Secondo lei, cosa rende Lugano una destinazione artistica e culturale?
“Lugano era già fertile d’arte e cultura, grazie alla presenza del MASI, del LAC e del Museo delle Culture e di qualche straordinaria iniziativa privata come la Fondazione Olgiati o anche la Fondazione Braglia. Con il programma della Bally Foundation s’intende allargare l’offerta, su un piano complementare. Collaborare e dialogare con le istituzioni già presenti è sicuramente fondamentale, così come lo è costruire un legame privilegiato con l’Università della Svizzera italiana per i programmi di sviluppo e ricerca. A questo punto la bellezza naturale della città e l’offerta plurale di programmi di arte e cultura possono contribuire a fare di Lugano un luogo veramente unico.”

Mit dem Programm der Bally Foundation soll das Angebot auf einer ergänzenden Ebene ausgeweitet werden. Die Zusammenarbeit und der Dialog mit den bereits vorhandenen Einrichtungen sind zweifellos von grosser Bedeutung, ebenso wie der Aufbau einer privilegierten Verbindung mit der Università della Svizzera italiana für Entwicklungs- und Forschungsprogramme. An dieser Stelle können die natürliche Schönheit der Stadt und das vielfältige Angebot an Kunst- und Kulturprogrammen dazu beitragen, Lugano zu einem wirklich einzigartigen Ort zu machen.”

How are you inspired by the region of Lugano and its products in the preparation of your dishes?
“Inspiration always comes from the product, and one of the riches of our region is precisely the vast number of small producers who work with ethics and passion. This allows us chefs to give vent to our creativity with the certainty that we are working with excellent raw materials, and the artisans to make their way through the multinationals that are increasingly threatening the high gastronomic scene.”

“L’ispirazione arriva sempre dal prodotto e una delle ricchezze della nostra regione è proprio la vastità di piccoli produttori che lavorano con etica e passione. Questo permette a noi chef di dare sfogo alla nostra creatività con la certezza di lavorare con materie prime d’eccellenza e agli artigiani di farsi largo tra le multinazionali che minacciano sempre di più il panorama gastronomico di alto livello.”
