be to some small degree in co-equal control of the relation ship. There can be only one reason that the nature of the vis itor experience is changing. They seem more realistic, more

possible,

than ever before. Conceived of as extraterrestrials,

they become almost understandable. Perhaps the prevalence of this concept is our way of admitting to ourselves that we can now begin to understand.

The "visitor experience" is old. Two hundred years ago a farmer might have come in from his plowing and said, "I saw fairies dancing in the glen. " A thousand years ago he might have seen angels flying. Two thousand years ago it would have been Dionysus leaping in the fields. Four thou sand years ago he might have seen the goddess Earth herself walking those old hills, her starry robe sparkling with the pure light of magic. That we could even conceive of having an objective re lationship with this force is what is new about the visitor experience in modern times. Always we have been passive. We have knelt before the gods, been abducted by the fairies and the UFO occupants. But we have never, ever tried to explore a real relationship. This is why we know nothing about them. In a relation ship, both partners seek to know and serve the other. So far all we have done, in all of our history, is to be submissive to this force, or try like the fearful, debunkers of today to ignore it. More even than repression of sex, repression of relationship with this level of reality is characteristic of what

is most inhumane about modern culture. It is ironic that the West, with its relentless interest in the physical world, would fail to see that the soul also has reference to physical reality, emerges from it, depends on it, indeed is at once its progeny and its source. Thankfully , the very way we think and perceive our universe may be changing. We may be in the process of achieving a more sane and objective view of something that has been a source of confusion since the beginning of time.
