UFO hovering some five feet above the road. Godfrey at足 tempted to contact his headquarters, but as so often hap足 pens when in close proximity to UFOs, the equipment would not function properly. Godfrey decided to sketch the object on his notebook, and after having done so found himself suddenly and mysteriously about a hundred yards farther down the road. The UFO had vanished. Godfrey returned to his police station, picked up a colleague, and returned to the site of his encounter. They both noticed that the road was considerably drier at the point where Godfrey had seen the craft. What puzzled Godfrey even more was that when he had returned to the police station, it had been much later than he thought. Under hypnosis-again, organized and paid for by Harry Harris-an abduction story emerged. Apparently Godfrey had got out of the car for a better look at the object, but had suddenly seen a bright light emanating from the craft. He had been frightened, and had tried to drive off, only to find that his car would not start. He felt he was being restrained, and then suddenly recalled being inside the craft, where he saw a tall, bearded humanoid figure called Joseph, together with smaller creatures who Joseph explained were robots. At one stage Godfrey even described seeing a dog on the craft: the sighting of animals inside UFOs is highly unusual, although an American abductee-Judy Doraty足 recalls seeing a cow being floated onto a craft. prior to the unfortunate animal being dissected.
