Joanne Dauphin State Farm Helps Organize Backpack and School Supply Drive with Local Businesses 700 backpacks filled with school supplies have been donated to students August 26, 2020 [Pinellas Park, FL] - Joanne Dauphin State Farm is thrilled to announce that, with the help of local businesses and community support, they have collected over 700 backpacks, each containing essential school supplies, through their Backpack Drive! These backpacks provide free educational materials to students in Pinellas County and have already been distributed to local families in dire need. Joanne Dauphin State Farm believes that it is vital to be a good neighbor and to support their community anytime there is an immediate need. "The Chamber of Commerce of Pinellas Park holds an annual back to school event that we couldn’t put together this year due to complications with Covid-19. I decided to reach out to the Pinellas Sheriff's Police Athletic League (PAL) to see if they needed help. They said they were seeing a need for school supplies more than ever. We decided to go ahead and order some backpacks and school supplies and then reached out to some local business owners to see if they could match, or contribute, to help us fill the need of PAL and anyone else in the Pinellas Park area that we could help," explained Joanne Dauphin, Owner of Joanne Dauphin State Farm. Dauphin and her team were determined to collect 700 backpacks in a short time-frame to help meet the increased need for donated supplies this school year due to the extenuating circumstances from Covid-19. Joanne Dauphin State Farm approached local business owners with a proposal to match their own monetary donations. Four Tampa Bay businesses, Amber Glen Feed Depot, Dayton Andrews Dodge, Schooner Prints, and Cameron Termite and Pest Control, all graciously agreed to contribute towards Joanne Dauphin State Farm’s backpack drive, which has allowed over 700 Pinellas County students to receive free backpacks full of school supplies. After backpack and supply donations started coming in, the City of Pinellas Park announced their own backpack drive and the need for assisting students attending Pinellas Park schools with donated supplies. Joanne Dauphin State Farm immediately reached out to assist and donated 400 backpacks directly to the City. The 300 remaining backpacks were donated to families in need through the Pinellas Sheriff's Police Athletic League in Lealman. The City of Pinellas Park, Pinellas Pal, and Pinellas County Schools are all experiencing a substantial need for donated school supplies this year.
