Cemetery Following a safety inspection notices have been attached to the few headstones that have been identified as at risk. Where we have up to date information we have contacted the families to make them aware, but as most are over 30 years old and we do not have up to date information we ask families to contact their undertakers where necessary to make the headstone safe. If very unstable or we are unable to find next of kin, we will make the headstone safe which may include laying the memorial down with the inscription facing upwards. We will be coming to the grass gutting season very soon and would remind people to keep the grass around sanctums clear any flowers etc. can be placed on the gravel behind the sanctums. Fly Tipping If someone with a van offers great rubbish removal rates please be wary, check they are a licensed operator, as we have had a spate of fly tipping in Yaxley. The District Council are taking action but often it’s against the resident believing the rubbish will be correctly dumped. Hunts DC will remove bulky items for a fee please call on 01480 388 640 or check out their website for full details and charges:

Gritting Between 1 November and 15 April, Cambridgeshire County Council has a fleet of gritters on standby. Regular updates can be found on facebook and twitter on when the roads will get gritted and any weather warnings. Only the bus route roads in Yaxley are gritting routes for County but there are a number of yellow grit bins dotted around the village and County have a list of volunteers who help treat the footpaths in these areas when the temperature drops below freezing. For more information or to report an empty grit bin or to volunteer to help please visit

Skate Park We are delighted to report that the skate park improvements and skate park extension has been completed. The old skate ramps at Middletons Road Recreation Ground have had new frames and skatelite surfacing and four additional jump ramps have been installed offering more fun for the junior skater to develop skill and confidence. The overall costs have been approx. £47,000 met from the earmarked and general reserves. We intend to paint the sides black when the weather allows so that the local graffiti artists can have somewhere to practise their art, but we would ask that the skatelite surface remain as it is, as any paint or spray will damage the surface and no one wants that. We thank everyone for their patience – happy skateboarding
