He ran his idea past a few friends at a backyard barbeque, and they were also keen on Hanna’s plan. Those friends, James Meadours (Double Schotts’ director of operations) and JP and Katie Schott, also founding owners, grew up with Hanna in the area and have been involved with the bar and grill since the start. “Double Schotts comes from deep community roots and a need to serve our neighborhood,” Hanna said. “Together, JP, Katie, James and I have decades of experience navigating the industry and acted on our desire to create a New Braunfels bar like no other.” The foursome saw a need for a higher-end sports bar that catered to locals. “We know what our ideal customers want because we are our ideal customers,” Hanna said. the two months Double Schotts was shuttered to improve their place and adapt to the changes forces by the pandemic. They expanded the outdoor seating at Double Schotts, giving customers the option to enjoy the bar and grill from the safety of the open air. They also found ways to deliver food to those that wanted to stay home until things were more manageable.
