Don’tTake Your Eyes Off the Road

It seems the news is mainly noise these days, mindless distractions along the path, diverting one from seeing obstacles and diversions that prevent truly finding one’s destiny in life. Ask yourself one question, “Am I prepared no matter what happens over the next few years?” If changing the world has any meaning, it must start with the person in the mirror first.

Many people think it is their job to look after everyone else’s business, yet have not thought much about their own. Whether it is forgetting to use critical reasoning as it relates to any given topic or practicing long-term planning so that life’s unexpected emergencies don’t have quite the impact, most people seem either lost or scared these days. Things to practice daily to improve life include starting with an honest assessments and setting goals for where you want to be in the future. Define the obstacles and find solutions. If solutions seem impossible, ask others with skills needed that will help you. Though this might seem difficult at first, the problem solvers in society are usually excited to have problems to solve. This might seem odd at first; however, it really makes sense the more thought it is given. Realize that most of the people in the world really want the same thing. They want what they perceive is in the best interest for themselves and their families. The road to get what they want is the difference. Our job should be to explain why our system is a better way to achieve that goal for everyone. However, in seeking to explain things, understanding opposite points of view will strengthen our position if we are correct and allow ourselves to adjust if needed, because of any weaknesses in our theory. Just practicing and setting a good example for others to follow will suffice for most.

The world today seeks to divide and segment everyone. As a contrarian, disrupting the plan gives a certain satisfaction that is hard to explain. In the last few years, we have seen things accelerate at a pace both unsettling and disturbing for most. Yet, within the rapid dissolution there is a seed from the past stirring as never before. Those who recognized the danger of the current mood have, as our ancestors in the past, started a mass migration to bring their families to safety in a more rural environment. This turning away from urban decay should give many hope for the future. For the rural lifestyle to continue, energetic newcomers are needed to repopulate and renew. Many have additional talents and ideas that will add to the solutions needed locally to stay competitive in the future.

The bottom line is that along the path there are many crossroads; however, if we take our eyes off the road, we get distracted and miss opportunities. If we don’t have goals, we won’t arrive at favorable destinations. If we forget that we share the road with others, conflicts hurt everyone involved. In the end, we are responsible to get where we want to be. No one will save us if we don’t make careful plans. This is a unique time to be alive. Let’s all rise to the challenges and work to make things better as they are finished.
