DIGGING DENVER Feeling the High of the Mile High City BY JOHN EGAN

denver, the mile high city, enjoys a rich and rainbow-hued LGBT history. Back in 1975, Denver hosted its first official Pride parade. That came two years after the Gay Coalition of Denver worked with the Denver City Council to abolish anti-gay laws. Later, in 1990, Denver became one of the first cities in the country to adopt an anti-discrimination policy for gays and lesbians. This decade has seen even greater strides: In 2013, Colorado recognized

same-sex unions, followed by legalization of same-sex marriage a year later. Against that backdrop, Denver is not only an LGBT-friendly place to live and work, but an LGBT-friendly place to visit. Denver gets overshadowed as a gay travel mecca by destinations like New York and San Francisco, but the Mile High City deserves a hard look by LGBT tourists. Here are just eight reasons why you should consider putting Denver on your LGBT travel itinerary.
