Watch and Pray by Del Rogers

The Pastor and his Deacon put a sign on the road in front of the Church that read:

THE END IS NEAR

Just then a car full of teenagers drove by and screamed at the two men, “Why don’t you religious fanatics go back in your Church?”

As the car vanished over the hill a huge splash sent water 100 feet high.

The Deacon turned to the Pastor and said, “Perhaps we should have written:

THE BRIDGE IS OUT.

The Message Bible quotes God in Habakkuk: “Write this, write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-this message is a witness pointing to what is coming.

“It aches for the coming-it can hardly wait and it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on it’s way. It will come right on time.”

Many biblical scholars and theologians believe that all the prophecies about the end time have been or are being fulfilled right now- EXCEPT ONE-that the gospel will be preached in the whole world to every person.

Many of these experts also believe that that final step is within reach because of modern communication technology. Some have even been so audacious as to predict an exact date. NOT SO!

Jesus said, “No one knows when that day will be. The Son and the angels in Heaven don’t know when it will be, ONLY THE FATHER KNOWS.”

In Luke 21 Jesus told His Disciples all the terrible things that would happen to them and in and to the world. But, He said, “Watch and pray always that you may be found faithful, worthy to escape the consequences of all that evil so that you are worthy to stand before the Son of Man.”

WATCH AND PRAY!

Watch means to be on the highest level of alertness even in the darkest night. [Luke 12:35-37]

Pray, means to remain in constant communion with God. We must keep our minds and hearts and eyes fixed on Jesus, so that we are ready for His return at any moment.

And, by the way, we are to imitate Jesus while we wait (as the Apostle Paul did) and seek to win as many others as we can to accept Jesus as Savior and watch and pray with us until his glorious appearing.
