to be Part of It All!

Are you ready for a different choice when eating out, not the same ole, same ole? If you are, then you don’t have to go far. A new eating opportunity in Caldwell is The Rodney, located at 106 North Main Street (the former Funky Junky). A variety of foods, some not so familiar and other Texas favorites, but with added flavor. Owners Brittany Desadier and Karly McCarthy have come to Texas from Oregon, ready to embrace the Texas life style, and ready to offer Caldwell fresh food, at a place for family and individuals to gather.

Brittany spoke of their desire to help revive the downtown square of Caldwell, saying, “It has a lot of possibility. We love when a small town becomes a community alive with local businesses to attract locals and those who pass through.” Though Caldwell is growing, as are so many small towns in Texas, they want to keep the small-town, personal touch through The Rodney, and through their involvement in the community.

Co-owners, Karly and Brittany have been friends for years. They were in school together, and even rodeoed back in Oregon. After some 20 years, they’ve renewed their friendship and joined forces to offer a location to go to for tasty food.

The menu offers snacks such as Jambalaya balls and a Truffle shuffle, tots with truffle seasoning and goat cheese sauce. Also, they provide a House Salad or a Chicken Cobb.

Their Sandos N Dogs offering, w/chips or fries, include a pressed turkey, avocado, provolone sandwich warmed, and a chopped chicken and provolone on Ciabatta. As well, there are two 44 Farms beef dogs. And a BLT as well. Be ready for a mouth-watering experience.

Of course, beef burgers are on the menu: The classic, ½ pounder with tomato, lettuce, onion on a brioche bun. Stacked, a ½ pounder with jalapeno cheese sauce, bacon cheddar, with cowboy jalapeno

candy on a brioche bun; and then there is a ½ pounder with caramelized onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese on a Brioche bun.

For sure, there is food for the “Little Cluckers,” chicken bites, grilled cheese, PP&J, as well as a hotdog. All served with chips or fries + a Capri Sun. Sure to please offerings!

Brittany and Karly have many future plans: to expand their indoor and outdoor facilities, to open a market that will provide fresh foods, and to open a Roll-up bar, as well as many other ideas. If you are wondering about the name The Rodney, Brittany says that the man behind the name is her grandfather Rodney who was in the restaurant business. He had a “go-getter” attitude and outlook on life, and an “Ain’t it good to be a part of it all” attitude.

On a personal note, Karly and husband Nick are parents to 9 year old twins Rowen and Madi, and Brittany and husband Jordan are parents to Tavin 12, and Ripkin 7. We welcome both families as they begin their new lives in Caldwell.
