Course Insight
The Founders Course at Greystone Golf & Country Club was designed by Bob Cupp and two-time major champion Hubert Green, opening in 1991. The course hosted the Bruno’s Memorial Classic on PGA TOUR Champions from 1992 to 2005. The course has been the site of the Regions Tradition since 2016 after undergoing some changes—nine greens were either rebuilt or modified, and three new tees and several new bunkers were added. Playing in just his third PGA TOUR Champions event, 50-year-old Alex Cejka birdied the first playoff hole to beat defending champion Steve Stricker. “It’s incredible. I still can’t believe it. I have no words,” Cejka said. “I fought so hard. I think it’s everybody’s dream to win trophies, and I did it.” Stricker and Cejka were 1-2 heading into the final round, with Stricker one stroke ahead, and they pulled away, ultimately finishing four ahead of the field. Cejka trailed by three strokes at the turn after a front-nine 32 by Stricker, but after birdies on Nos. 12-14 and two Stricker bogeys, Cejka led by two. Stricker made his own comeback with birdies on 16 and 18, the latter on a 13-foot putt to force the tie at 18-under 270. Playing the par-5 18th again in the playoff, Cejka birdied from 10 feet while Stricker missed an 8-foot birdie.

Course Insight
Jack Nicklaus designed The Golf Club at Harbor Shores, which opened in 2010 on a site where an abandoned factory had been. Home of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018, the course offers a diverse setting and a variety of holes. Three holes play through dunes with a Scottish feel and views of Lake Michigan; four holes wind through rolling hills, ravines and a hardwood forest similar to Northern Michigan; while 11 holes border the Paw Paw River, Ox Creek and associated wetlands.

HOW ALEX CEJKA WON
KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship
Alex Cejka won his second consecutive senior major championship, shooting a final-round 67 at Southern Hills Country Club to win by four strokes. “I can’t even describe how it feels to be here and touching the trophy. I’m just super blessed,” said the Czechborn senior rookie. Just as at the prior major, the Regions Tradition, Cejka was one stroke behind Steve Stricker through 54 holes. Whereas that event went into a playoff before Cejka prevailed, this time Stricker shot a final-round 77 and finished T11. After a birdie-bogey-bogey start, Cejka played the next nine holes in 4-under to take control. He offset a bogey at the 13th with a birdie at the 16th to post an 8-under 272 total. Tim Petrovic was second at 276 after a 67. K.J. Choi (68) and Retief Goosen (66) tied for third at 277.
