Notable Course Features
The course has large landing areas, but sandy waste areas and numerous water hazards await to catch shots that stray too far. The water also adds a strategic element to many holes, as do the bunkers that dot the course.

The organization launched its first chapter in Puebla at Las Maravillas in November 2017 and quickly added a second in January 2018.

NEW EVENT The Mexico Open, which dates back to 1944 and is considered Mexico’s national championship, appears on the PGA TOUR schedule for the first time as an official FedExCup event. It takes the place on the schedule of the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship, which is no longer being held. generations,” said Benjamin Salinas Sada, Vice President of the board of directors of Grupo Salinas. “We’ve worked closely with Grupo Salinas since the inception of the Mexico Championship in 2017,” said John Norris, PGA TOUR Senior Vice President of Tournament Business Affairs. “As tournament hosts, Grupo Salinas has been first-class in every respect—making this stop a favorite among our players while entertaining fans in Mexico and around the world.” The tournament will be held at Vidanta Vallarta on the west coast of Mexico. The field of 132 players will include 12 sponsor exemptions, with a minimum of four players from Latin America.
