Designed by Larry Packard in 1982, the Copperhead Course features undulating terrain that is unusual for a Florida course and complements a challenging strategic layout. The course underwent a restoration in 2015. Yardage: 7,340; par 71
Notable Course Features
Holes 16, 17 and 18 are known as the “Snake Pit.” The toughest of the three, and the most difficult hole on the course in 2021, is the 16th, a 475-yard par 4 that features water on the right side.

Charity Benefit
Copperhead Charities, the nonprofit organizing group of the Valspar Championship, has generated more than $47 million since 1977, including $1.6 million in 2021. The tournament raises substantial sums through its Birdies for Tampa Bay program and other targeted donations to groups such as Tampa General Hospital, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties, The First Tee, the Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation and others.

CHECK THIS OUT Along with Keegan Bradley, winner Sam Burns set the tournament’s 36-hole scoring record at 130 and tied the 54-hole mark of 199. Burns’ 72-hole total of 17-under 267 was one higher than the record (Vijay Singh, 2004). Burns played the par-5s in 15-under, tying the record set by Paul Casey in 2019. At 24 years, 9 months, 9 days, Burns became the second youngest player to win the Valspar Championship (Jordan Spieth/2015/21 years, 7 months, 16 days). Burns became the fifth TOUR player to claim his first PGA TOUR victory at the Valspar Championship.
Sam Burns and Keegan Bradley were tied at the top through 36 and 54 holes, and after some back-and-forth were tied again through 12 holes of the final round. After Bradley fell back with a double bogey on the 13th, Burns extended the margin with a birdie on the 14th and went on to claim his first PGA TOUR victory by three strokes. Burns turned a solid start into a great round of 8-under 63 for a share of the lead with Keegan. Burns played the par-5 first hole in 6-under for the week, making two eagles and two birdies. Burns ranked third in Strokes Gained: Putting at 2.274 per round, and missed only two putts inside 10 feet all week.
