Charter Flying – A New Vision JetASAP brings a new approach to jet charter – not only affordable, but also easy to use. We asked Founder and CEO Lisa Kiefer Sayer for the facts. What’s the story behind JetASAP? After selling charter for more than 20 years and having multiple clients reach out to me asking the best way to directly book private charter, I realized there had to be a different way for flyers to access charter provider availability. The tipping point came when I sold a charter flight to a broker for $25,000 and then subsequently discovered that they had re-sold the trip for $40,000 to the flyer. I started JetASAP one month later since that experience confirmed for me that the aviation industry needed a new option in the charter marketplace. My vision was a marketplace where private flyers could post confidential trip requests and have operators respond directly to them with live quotes generated by their sales representatives rather than the automated quote estimates that most platforms currently generate, and which are typically not immediately bookable. I put together a team of seasoned former charter operators who shared my vision and then spent about a year building out the mobile app and web-based operator platforms. The key to making it work right out of the gate was to mimic the current charter booking process to make the experience familiar for both flyers and operators. Since our launch in September 2020, the rate at which the company has grown is confirmation that the value of a direct marketplace is shared by flyers and operators alike.

them. With the ability to arrive moments before departure without need of passing through airport security or navigating large airport terminals, flyers are able to shave hours off of the time typically spent traveling commercially. Health and security are also major advantages since flyers always know who they are traveling with and are able to avoid busy airport terminals or crowded aircraft. Finally, for those flying for business, increased productivity is another great advantage since flyers can meet with colleagues or work in complete privacy.

What sort of destinations are available? Private aircraft are able to use any commercial or private airport worldwide that meets each aircraft’s performance requirements. Oftentimes, there is a private airport located far closer to a flyer’s destination, as many are located near city centers where most meetings take place, and the resulting reduced distance saves flyers even more time when commuting to and from the airport. Additionally, locations which are difficult to reach by commercial aircraft such as Aspen, CO or Ocean Reef in Key Largo, FL are easily accessible by private aircraft. In the United States alone, there are approximately 500 commercial airports but more than 5,000 public airports which accommodate private aircraft.

factoring in the cost of a flyer’s time, as well as the alleviation of health and security concerns, the differential is not as large as one might expect, and especially when traveling in a group. Add to this the rise of point-to-point pricing that is often available in the on-demand charter market, and private charter can be a costeffective option in many instances. JetASAP contributes further to reducing the cost differential by connecting retail flyers directly with charter operators.

Is jet charter suitable for private as well as business flyers? Private aviation is absolutely used for both personal and business travelers. In fact prior to COVID-19 last year, the majority of private flights were business related. Post-COVID, things rapidly changed and personal travel quickly eclipsed business travel. However, as the country and rest of the world begin to open up post-pandemic, business travel will once again likely dominate private travel.

What choice of aircraft is available? The JetASAP marketplace offers thousands of aircraft in every category from over 700 operators across the U.S. and soon, globally as well. Every category of aircraft can be found, including piston and turboprop aircraft, light, midsized, super midsized, heavy and ultra-long range jets, VIP airliners, and specialty 30 seat aircraft used for tours and sports teams. All charter operators on the JetASAP platform charter the whole aircraft and do not offer individual seats or shared flights at this time.
