Michael Thompson was one stroke behind leader Richy Werenski after Round 1 and the two were tied for the lead after 36 and 54 holes. Werenski, who shot 70 in the final round, finished T3. Thompson’s winning score of 19-under 265 was two strokes higher than Matthew Wolff’s winning total of 263 in the inaugural 3M Open in 2019. Adam Long shot 63-64 on the weekend to finish second. His 127 total for consecutive rounds matched Wolff’s third and fourth rounds of 2019 (62-65).
Michael Thompson birdied the 16th and 18th holes en route to a two-stroke victory with a final-round 67 after holding a share of the 54-hole lead. The 35-year-old claimed his second PGA TOUR victory seven years after his first, with Adam Long finishing second and a nine-way tie for third, three strokes back. Thompson made only three bogeys all week, none in a first-round 64. Thompson ranked first in Strokes Gained: Putting (1.819 per round) and fourth in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (1.855).

2020 Champion
“This is definitely a win for everybody who supported me through the years.” – Michael Thompson 20 20
Reachable with two good shots, especially when the tee is up, the 596-yard 18th hole offers the chance for a birdie or eagle. But with water in front of the green, it can also be punishing. In 2020, it produced more double bogeys or worse than all but one other hole (the ninth).
