TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
JULY 15-18, 2021
Barbasol Championship
Location & Course Information
KEENE TRACE GOLF CLUB (CHAMPIONS TRACE) NICHOLASVILLE, KY. The Champions Trace Course was built in 1987 and designed by noted architect Arthur Hills. In preparation for its first Barbasol Championship in 2018, four new tees were built and about 300 trees were removed. Yardage: 7,328; par 72
Notable Course Features
The 18th hole is not a particularly long par 4 at 429 yards, but it is challenging with water all the way down the right side, and approach shots played into a small green. In 2019, it played as the third toughest hole on the course.
2019 Champion (No event in 2020) Jim Herman, U.S
Charity Benefit
The tournament was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a special charity day was held in October, raising $205,000 for the tournament’s charity partners. The event’s charitable arm, Caddie127, supports philanthropic organizations that benefit and empower women and children.

Quick Facts
Field: 132 players Format: 72 holes stroke play Purse: $3.5 million Winner’s Share: $630,000 FedExCup Points: 300 to the winner
Jim Herman made his lone top-10 of the 2018-19 season count as he posted a one-stroke triumph over Kelly Kraft at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky. The tournament was not played in 2020.
HOW JIM HERMAN WON
CHECK THIS OUT Jim Herman’s 72-hole total of 262 was a tournament record, breaking the mark of Grayson Murray (263 at the RTJ Trail Grand National Course in 2017). Herman became the fourth player in the event’s five years to either win by one stroke or in a playoff. Herman’s victory was his first top-10 finish of the season. The field made 144 eagles, which was the most at any tournament on the PGA TOUR since 1990 (single-course events).
After a couple of lean years, Jim Herman found the touch again and posted his second career victory. The then-41-year-old took the 54-hole lead with a third-round 62 and held on with a 70 in the final round. Kelly Kraft moved in front with final-round birdies on 14 and 15, but bogeyed 16 and 17 to finish one behind. Herman made two eagles on the way to a 62 on Saturday, both on putts of 10 feet. Herman led the field in Greens in Regulation Percentage (87.50) and was second in Strokes Gained: Putting (2.035 per round).
