TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
OCTOBER 1-4, 2020
Sanderson Farms Championship
Location & Course Information
JACKSON, MISS. COUNTRY CLUB OF JACKSON Founded in 1913, the Country Club of Jackson is a private club with 27 holes originally designed by Dick Wilson in 1962. John Fought redesigned 18 holes in 2008, the Dogwood and Azalea nines used for the tournament. Yardage: 7,460; par 72.
Notable Course Features The signature hole is the 479-yard, par-4 16th (the toughest on the course in 2020). Swampland protects the entire left side and also crosses the fairway about 80 yards short of the largest green on the course. A long approach must avoid swamp on the left and a large bunker on the right.
Fueled by a closing birdie at the 72nd hole, Sergio Garcia holds the trophy after winning the Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson. It was Garcia’s first PGA TOUR triumph since the 2017 Masters.
“It was the perfect ending for an amazing week.” – Sergio Garcia

HOW SERGIO GARCIA WON
Spain’s Sergio Garcia hit an 8-iron inside 3 feet to set up birdie on the 18th to win by one stroke. Another key shot for Garcia was a 5-wood to 4 feet en route to an eagle on the 14th hole as he shot a final-round 67 to beat Peter Malnati, who mounted a charge with a closing 63. Garcia ranked first in Strokes Gained: Offthe-Tee (1.373 per round) and third in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (1.753). Garcia ranked first in Driving Distance – All Drives (306.6 yards) and T1 in Greens in Regulation Percentage (83.33).
CHECK THIS OUT Sergio Garcia, who was putting with his eyes closed, won in his first appearance at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Garcia was in a three-way tie for the lead through 54 holes with J.T. Poston and Cameron Davis. This marked the fourth straight year that a 54-hole leader has gone on to win the tournament. The 40-year-old Garcia has won on the PGA TOUR in three decades (2000s, 2010s and 2020s); he also won twice on the European Tour in 1999 at age 19.
