HOW PATRICK REED WON Patrick Reed one-putted five of the first six holes of the final round, four of them par saves after missing the green, then got his ball-striking together for a birdie burst on the back nine that delivered the title. One-under through 12 holes, Reed birdied Nos. 12, 15, 16 and 17 before a bogey on 18 that cut his victory margin to one stroke. Bryson DeChambeau had taken the lead with birdies on five of six holes starting at the ninth, ultimately shooting a 65 and settling for second place. Reed nearly drove the green on the par-4 12th and was just off the green in two on the par-5 15th, making up-and-down birdies. He added an approach to three feet to set up birdie on the 16th and made an 18foot birdie putt on the 17th. Reed led the field in fewest putts with 98, including 23, 24 and 25 in the last three rounds. He led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting at 2.956 per round. Reed was third in Scrambling, saving par on 78.57 percent of his missed greens and fourth in Strokes Gained: Around the Green at .798 per round.
