PEBBLE BEACH, CALIF. PEBBLE BEACH GOLF LINKS (HOST COURSE), MONTEREY PENINSULA COUNTRY CLUB, SPYGLASS HILL GOLF COURSE Prominent amateur golfers Jack Neville and Douglas Grant designed Pebble Beach Golf Links, which opened in 1919. Many changes through the years have included Jack Nicklaus creating a new fifth hole in 1998. Yardages: Pebble Beach GL, 6,816, par 72; Spyglass Hill GC, 6,953 , par 72; MPCC (Shore Course), 6,958; par 71.

Notable Course Features

Pebble Beach Golf Links is famous for its holes that run along the Pacific Ocean. While the par-5 18th is one of the most recognizable holes in the world, Nos. 8-10, all par-4s, comprise the most difficult stretch.

Canada’s Nick Taylor, who hadn’t won a PGA TOUR event since 2014, stands on the 18th green at Pebble Beach and celebrates his four-shot victory at the AT&T.

Charity Benefit

Monterey Peninsula Foundation is the nonprofit organization that stages the tournament and also the PURE Insurance Championship on PGA TOUR Champions. The foundation grants proceeds to organizations and programs benefiting youth, education, health and human services, arts and the environment ($12.3m in 2019).

HOW NICK TAYLOR WON

Nick Taylor stretched his final-round lead to five shots with a front-nine 32 at Pebble Beach, but his advantage dropped to two shots after bogeys on 11 and 12 and a double bogey at 14. He recovered with a chip-in birdie at the par-4 15th hole and made birdie at the scenic 17th to close with a score of 70, winning by four shots.  Taylor had three eagles on the week, including his first hole of the tournament.  Taylor ranked T3 in Greens in Regulation, hitting 54 of 72.

CHECK THIS OUT  Nick Taylor shot a first-round 63 and had the solo lead after every round, the first to do so at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am since Phil Mickelson (2005).  Canada’s Taylor was the first international winner of the event since Vijay Singh (2004).  Mickelson finished third in his bid to win for a sixth time at Pebble Beach. He and Mark O’Meara have each won five.  Jason Day has finished in the top five in each of the last four years (T5-T2-T4-4 from 2017-20).
