“I knew the guys behind me could make birdies, I was just trying to give myself a chance every hole because I knew the putter felt good.” —Gary Woodland
Chez Reavie forced a playoff with birdie at the 72nd hole in an event where he volunteered as a youngster.

The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was designed by Jay Morrish and 16-time PGA TOUR winner Tom Weiskopf specifically to serve as the stage for the tournament. Built in 1986, the Stadium Course offers a collection of challenging risk-reward holes that incorporate strategic bunkering and water hazards. Weiskopf oversaw a renovation of the course in 2014. The location of the property provides spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains and the Sonoran Desert.
January 31-February 3, 2019
Gary Woodland birdied three of the last four holes in regulation and defeated Chez Reavie in a playoff to claim his first victory since 2013. Reavie forced the playoff by holing a 20-foot birdie putt on 18, but missed the green on the first extra hole and made a bogey while Woodland got up and down for a par. Woodland began the final round three strokes back and shot a 7-under 64 that was the best of the day. Rickie Fowler held the 54-hole lead, but fell to T11 after a closing 73 while Woodland and Reavie (66) pulled three strokes clear of the rest of the field. Woodland had nine birdies in the final round, shooting a 5-under 30 on the front nine and offsetting two back-nine bogeys with four birdies including Nos. 15, 16 and 17. Woodland played the 12 par 5s in 10-under for the week, ranking first in Par 5 Scoring Average. Woodland was second in Strokes Gained: Approach-theGreen at 1.907 strokes per round. Woodland’s 26 birdies led the field, and he also had an eagle during the third round. Ollie Schniederjans closed with 65 to move up into a tie for third.
