Modimolle CDWs and home based carers handed over the groceries they brought for the children who are alone in this world. Photo supplied Lizzy Bapela Community workers identified and assisted a child headed family during their door-todoor campaign in the Phomolong section of Modimolle. The campaign took place on Thursday, 12 July, and was an initiative by the Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS) in Waterberg in partnership with Community Development Workers (CDWs) and home based carers from DiraO-Direlwe dropping centre in Modimolle. The older brother is a Grade 11 learner lives alone with his ailing younger brother. The younger brother was in Grade 7 when he had to drop out of school due to health problems. Their parents died four years ago and they have no relatives. The older brother has the responsibility to look after his brother, attend school and do some piece jobs to ensure that they have food on the table, as they do not receive foster grants due to a lack of enabling documents. During the campaign, the officials found that the children only had bread as a meal for the whole day. The younger brother was sleeping because he had no strength. The visiting officials then bought the children

some food out of their own pockets after the plight of the children touched them deeply. The officials took it upon themselves to assist the orphans getting registration documents such as an ID for the older brother and a birth certificate for his younger brother. The older brother thanked the officials for their efforts, as he felt helpless. Ms Maria Ramoshaba, of the GCIS, told The BEAT that the purpose of the campaign was to inform community members on programmes of the government, services rendered by CDWs and HBC. The GCIS distributed the July issue of government magazines Vukuzenzele, Programme of Action (PoA) and Youth Guide, which provides the youth with contact details of tertiary institutions in South Africa. CDWs encouraged people who could not afford to pay their water to grab the opportunity offered by the municipality to register as indigents. Ms Ramoshaba said the government has prioritised education but still other young people do not take education serious. She said schooling is still a challenge as some young people dropped out at Grade 3 and do not have enabling documents like ID books and birth certificates.

Tshediso is showered with love

Ms Brenda and Mr Kurt Loewen came from Canada to visit Tshediso Hlwaela. They have sponsored R8 000 for school furniture and paid Tshediso’s school fees in advance for the next year. Photo: Danie Visser Danie Visser After a terrible family tragedy in Modimolle, where Tshediso Hlwaela’s mother died, he was left in the sole care of his grandmother. On Sunday, 3 June, Tshediso celebrated his 5th birthday with school friends and their parents at his school, the Lerato Christian Academy. Almost 100 people showed up to celebrate his birthday with him. The birthday

party was organised by Pastor Themba Mogale and Ms Brenda and Mr Hendrik Horne-Ferreira. The Horne-Ferreira’s recently moved to Modimolle, with the hope of finding grandchildren to take care of since their only grandchildren are living in Canada. The couple decided to adopt a school and to help needy children as much as possible. Lerato Christian Academy was the school that they chose to adopt. “The children became our grandchildren,” Ms Horne-Ferreira said. Horne-Ferreira and her husband, in collaboration with Mogale, organised a fifth birthday party and charity event. Attendees were invited to give donations Tshediso’s birthday, as well as the school fees. People attending the party donated an amount of R1 200 in total. The cherry on the cake was the two Samaritans from Canada, who heard about this event and decided to visit the school. Ms Brenda and Mr Kurt Loewen donated R8 000 worth of school furniture to the school, including chairs and tables. After hearing the story of Tshediso, the Loewens paid for his school fees in advance for the following year. The school and organisers would like to thank the community for their support.

Lizzy Bapela Two men of God from Modimolle took initiative and used their 67 minutes for Mandela Day to preach to juveniles at the local correctional centre. Pastor Felix Fambi, of the Awake Grace Ministries International, and Pastor Herman Lehobye, of the International Assemblies of God, together with Ms Maria Ramoshaba, of the Waterberg Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS), visited the centre on Friday, 13 July, as part of their Mandela Day activities for this year. They conducted the visit under the theme “I have a dream” and the three visitors interacted with the young inmates during the visit and delivered messages of support to them and to officials working at the centre. The pastors preached from Genesis Chapter 37 verse 2 to 11, which emphasises on Joseph’s dream. The message was that people, especially the young offenders, must have a dream and pursue it to achieve it. “We all have our own dreams and a dream never dies it does not mater where on earth you are and that includes you in the centre. Every dream has an enemy to disabling it from being a

reality and the worst enemy of a dream can be your own self. Mandela had a dream and strived to make it a reality and he did it for all of us to enable us to enjoy the fruits of his difficulties today. Let us all remember the great South Africa made possible by his efforts and let us extend our efforts to make other people’s lives better,” said Fambi in his preaching. Lehobye indicated that for one to become a better person tomorrow it all depends on the surroundings one chooses and the friends and activities we engage ourselves. He encouraged the juveniles to ensure people with great influence surround them at all times. He also said that the future of a person is often a result of the decisions he makes and encouraged the listeners never to let their situations deprive them of a wonderful future that lies ahead. The two pastors encouraged the juveniles to remember their dreams and make a difference in their communities when they go back after being released. A representative from the juveniles acknowledged the pastors and the GCIS for their efforts to visit and motivate them, saying it really inspire them to know members of the community still think of them.

Twenty-two years of passion Thandekile Sibanyoni Ms Mmamoraka Masubelele, of Bela Bela, is winning the ever-present battle against looming unemployment by being her own employer. Masubelele has been running and managing a well-known and well-loved day care centre for over twenty-two years. Masubelele and former colleagues, Ms Rosina Phofu and Ms Rosina Matlala, formed Tswelopele pre-school in Leseding, in the Bela Bela Township, in 1989. Masubelele said that they came up with the idea of starting a pre-school and day care centre because there was only one crèche in the Township at that time. “We saw the need to start another day care centre. We were running it from Phofu’s house, because we only had 30 children in our care back then,” she explained. “A social worker, Ms Janet Chabala, advised us to apply for funding at the Department of Social Development. We also registered with both the Departments of Social Development and Education,” Masubelele told The BEAT. When the number of children attending Tswelopele increased, they had to move their premises to the Roman Catholic Church in Bela Bela. “The place was a dumping site. We cleared out all the hazardous materials and renovated the building. We faced a huge

challenge because we did not have toilets. We had to use the bathroom that belonged to Mr Ndlovu, who lives next to the day care. Now we have toilets that were built by Mr Josef Kobyane,” Masubelele said. “Since the townships of Bela Bela, such as Mandela and Mazakhela, were formed, the number of children also increased. My colleagues and I decided to split. Matlala is now running her own day care called Boitumelo, and Phofu is working somewhere else,” she explained. There are currently 170 children at the preschool. Masubelele decided to take children from 2 years old and above at the day care centre because the building there is smaller. In 2010, Eskom donated a fridge and a stove to the day care centre. They were also awarded by the company for taking care of the furniture that was donated. Masubelele said their pre- school is in need of a fence. “We need a new fence and we are facing a challenge because our building is overcrowded, it needs to be extended. We have been trying to save money by asking parents to donate R60 per year but we don’t have enough money to start extending,” she said. Masubelele and Tswelopele is certainly an example of what can be done with a bit of determination and a lot of hard work.

Vaalwater community kick-start their Mandela Day charity events Lizzy Bapela Activities concerning celebrating Mandela Day by taking part in charity work have already kicked off in Vaalwater. Residents and politicians from Ward 1 to Ward 9 have embarked in charity work on Saturday, 14-, and Sunday, 15 July, in Vaalwater and Alma, also known as Mabaleng. The team conducted a cleaning campaign in Vaalwater, cleaning the dirty streets in Extension 6 and had lunch

with 10 senior citizens and a needy family in the area. The charity workers then proceeded to Alma, where the team distributed food parcels and blankets to two needy families on Sunday, 15 July. One needy family headed by an 84-year-old granny received a house after living in a shack for years. One of the councillors, Mr Sechele Sebolai, said that the family was living in a bad environment and as a result, the team decided to join hands and build them a house. The house was then erected and

the family has now moved into their new home, which was built on a site in the same area. Other concerned volunteers joined the team in cleaning, plastering and painting two houses in Phagameng on Monday, 16 July. Sebolai said that the activities ended in Phagameng on Tuesday, 17 July, when the team was scheduled to establish a playground for children in the area next to Lekkerbreek Primary school. He said an-

other house was to be build for another needy family in the area on the same day. The activities were conducted under the theme “take action, inspire change and make everyday a Mandela Day.” The team urged everyone to adhere to the ethical framework of service to one’s fellow human. They were following the objective of Mandela Day, which is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better.

ANCYL speaks out Lizzy Bapela The ANC Youth League in Limpopo held a press conference on Wednesday to 11 July to discuss outcomes of the Nelson Mandela lecture, which took place in Shayandima Village, Vhembe Region. Hundreds of members of the league from all the districts in the province were bussed to the event to listen while President Jacob Zuma was delivering the lecture, despite the statements made by the league’s spokesperson in the province Mr Klaas Mabunda in the media recently. Mr Mabunda alleged that the league will disrupt the proceedings, if they are not pleased, saying they will show the president the way out of Limpopo. According to Mabunda, the ANCYL took it upon itself to ensure that the mobilisation activities towards the gathering as a means to celebrate the life and times of the presidents of the ANC since its formation in 1912 went well. Mabunda claims that the league’s provincial chairperson and secretary were manhandled for singing about deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe and sports minister Fikile Mbalula and not about President Zuma. One of the people who were allegedly manhandled was Mr Wesani Sithole, from Mookgophong, He confirmed to The BEAT he did not suffer any injuries because of the incident and it is no big deal to him. The ANCYL in Limpopo ended Youth Month, June, by lashing out at the ANC and expressing their concerns about

the conduct of the mother party. The league’s spokesperson in Limpopo, Mr Klaas Mabunda, said that the ANC is using sympathy as a means to campaign for re-election and impose a perception that the current leadership cares for the masses. He said that the struggle for the liberation of the ANC was successfully carried out by its honest character and always locating the people‘s interest at the core. The league expressed concerns about the statement that the president’s safety will be compromised if he travelled by train, “as if the commuters who happened to have voted for him are criminals,” Mabunda said. He said the “reattempt by the president to sympathetically make another vow to make use of public transport particularly trains, will remind people of the inconsistencies on his part to be loyal to his promises and further deepen loss of constituencies. “As we celebrated youth month commemorating the strength of the class of 1976, the schools in Limpopo experience challenges with regards to textbooks. Young people still constitute the higher percentage of unemployment and illiteracy regardless of the president’s promise to create over 500 000 jobs. The National Youth Development Agency is turned into a political league in the expense of the provision of support services to young people. In the events of the looming criminal activities, a competent national commissioner is replaced with a woman who never even saw a robbery unless on television,” Mr Mabunda alleged.

Yuletide comes early for a Modimolle family Volunteers who took part in building the foundation phase of the house. Photo: Mzamane Ringane

Mzamane Ringane Christmas came early for the Manganye family, when the Modimolle Local Municipality built a house for them as part of the broader Mandela Day events. This family of 10 would probably not forget Mandela’s birthday ever in their lifetime, as they received a gift that would change their lives for the better. Public relations councillor, Mr Patrick Mashaba, municipal spokesperson, Patrick Shika, and David Molekoa, of the Modimolle Local Municipality, formed part of the volunteers who built the house. Construction work started on Saturday morning, with municipal officials and other community members working on the foundation phase of the house. Shika and Mashaba got out of their traditional formal wear and got their hands dirty. It was very touching to see officials pushing wheelbarrows filled with concrete mixture, serving members

of the community. Ms Esther Manganye, who lives with her seven siblings and her two children, said that they were very happy that they finally got a descend house to live in. “We have been living in a shack for too long, and it was very bad during rainy or windy seasons. I would like to thank the Mayor and all who contributed in giving us a descend life. I am glad that we would finally have peace of mind,” said Manganye. Mashaba told The Beat that the family had been identified some time ago, and with an aid of a company called Maseatlaoka, they managed to build a house for them. Mashaba said that the company donated the building material that was used to build the house. Municipal spokesperson, Shika, said that the construction work was expected to be concluded midweek. At the time of going to press bricklayers were expected to resume with their work.

Minimum wage increment Lizzy Bapela The lives of employees in the taxi Industry and hospitality sectors will change to the better, thanks to the minimum wage increment announcement by the Department of Labour. The department spokesperson in Limpopo, Mr Johannes Mokou, indicated that the increments, which will take effect throughout the country, would hit the grounds from 1 July. He said the current minimum wages on hospitality sector for employers with more than 10 employees is sitting at R 2323.87 per month, while employers with less than 10 employees are paying a minimum wage of R2084.52. Assistant Director from the Department in Limpopo, Mr Morgan Mokwana, said these rounds of increments would see employers with more than 10 employees hiking their wages to R 2495.80 per month and those with less paying R 2240.60 per

month. Shifting focus to the taxi industry sector, Mokwana said the increments would see the taxi drivers raking in wages amounting to R 2449.90 per month, the same amount that will go to administration workers. He said this is a giant step up from the previous year’s R 2160 per month. Mokwana added rank marshals would pocket R 231, 40 more from their previous R1728, 80 per month, a move that will shift them to a staggering R1959, 40 per month. He said other employees within the sector who are not elsewhere specified would hike from the previous R1512, 03 per month to a minimum wage of R1713, 70. Still on the taxi industry sector, Mokwana said if an employer requires an employee to sleep over at a place other than where the employee resides, the employer must either pay the employee the amount

of R279, 93 per night or arrange accommodation for the employee. Turning to systems in place to ensure compliance, head of department in the province Mr Albert Tshidavhu said the inspectorate would randomly do the spot checks at the affected workstations to monitor if the increments are put on practice. “If employers are found not to be complying with these amendments, they must be ready to face the full might of the law. Compliance is for the benefit of both employers and employees, therefore it is necessary. This is why we have competent and capable personnel at labour centres to assist them when they encounter challenges,” said Tshidavhu. About these issues, The BEAT interviewed the Warmbaths Taxi Association chairperson Mr Peter Mohale. Mr Mohale confirmed that WATA does know about the increment and also that the taxi drivers get it every year on 1 July.

When the cold makes you think South Africa is in the grip of an incredible cold front and even here, in the Waterberg where the climate is supposed to be warmer, we are all feeling the cold cutting through flesh and bone. It is in these times that we cannot help but think about the poorest of the poor who do not even have a blanket to keep them warm. This week The BEAT reports on various 67 minutes projects, in honour of Nelson Mandela Day. One of these articles is about two children who are living alone after their parents died. One of the brothers is sick and, when the community workers visited his home, he was too weak to wake up. He was so weak because of hunger! The reason why these children are suffering so terribly is that they have no guidance and no knowledge of how to access government grants and schemes that are designed to help them. What is the use of all the grand schemes if it does not help those that it is intended to help? The children also had a problem because they did not have the documentation needed to apply for the help that is available to them. The community workers vowed to help them obtain these documents. These good Samaritans should be applauded for their efforts, but one cannot help wondering how many more of these kids are out there that are also in dire need of urgent help. How many children are hungry and cold, because they simply do not know how to access the documents that are needed for them to receive help? This is where the community comes in. These children are not living on their own on a mountaintop somewhere. No, they are living and functioning within a community. It is the community’s responsibility and obligation to look out for the children that have to fend for themselves. These children living in child headed households did not ask to be orphans. Their parents were taken from them by fate and they had no say in the matter. It is not their fault that they are helpless without adult guidance. When you are busy with your 67 minutes for Mandela, ask yourself if you cannot be more involved in your community on a permanent basis. There are thousands of children out there who need adults to guide them and help them survive.

What type of South Africa do we want to live in? What type of South Africa have we created? Are our towns safe and prosperous places that we can raise our kids? What about challenges at hand that threaten development and service delivery? The book of Proverbs has a few ideas on the role of council in government. Proverbs 20:26, “A wise king winnows out the wicked; he drives the threshing wheel over them.” Proverbs 12:15, “The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.” Proverbs 19:20, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.” Proverbs 24:6, “… for waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisers.” The challenge lies in making a pledge, inspired by the words of Madiba, “During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal, which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.” 1. Acknowledge that we are all equally subject to the duties and responsibilities of citizenship and are all equally entitled to the rights, privileges and benefits of citizenship, without regard to race or gender. 2. Respect, protect and promote the supremacy of our Constitution and the rule of law. Teach our children to do the same. 3. Be resolved to live as equals, to live in peace and harmony, to be free from fear and want and to seek a better life. 4. Expect our multi-party system of democratic government to ensure accountability, responsiveness and openness in our interaction with those who serve us governing South Africa. 5. Undertake to do our best to heal the divisions of the past, improve the quality of life of all citizens and free the potential of all who live in our lovely land. 6. So as to achieve these worthy objectives, we promise to hold our public administration to the exacting standards, values and principles, which govern public servants, and we shall co-operate with them in all ways, which enhance efficiency, economy and effectiveness in the affairs of state and the delivery of services. 7. Honour the principles of Ubuntu and Batho Pele in our efforts to build a united nation. A united nation as one under God. If we all take this pledge and honour our commitment to it, we can make our communities a better place to live in.

Schools reopen with a shortage of books

Schools in Limpopo, including the Waterberg district, have struggled without textbooks for the first half of the year. Despite many promises, the textbooks were still not all delivered on 16 July. Photo as illustration TK Mashaba The Limpopo textbook saga continues and schools in the Waterberg are still waiting for the correct number of books to be delivered to them. The Department of Education claims that they have met their deadline for delivering textbooks to struggling schools, but it would seem that the order did not go as smoothly as the department would like to assert. Some schools have not received all the books that they needed. On Monday, 16 July, Ms Leah Senona, principal of the Phagameng High School in Modimolle, told The BEAT that the school is still in the process of verifying the books that were delivered and com-

piling a list for the circuit of the books that they still need. “At the moment we are still checking and verifying the books because they were received by the school’s delegated officials during the school holidays,” she said. Senona said that the department asked the school to write up a report and send it to the department after checking all the deliveries. In Bela Bela’s Albert Luthuli Primary School, only two boxes with books for Grade 2 were delivered. The principal, Mr Peter Molefe, told The BEAT that only these two boxes were received in his school. “There are some grades that still need more books, but the circuit has asked us to file a report too so that they can send the right books that are pending,” he said. Maokeng Primary School in Modimolle also did not receive all the books that they need so badly. Mr Shuti Khumalo, the principal said that they have also only received two boxes with books. “We received 2 boxes and the books are for Grade 1, 2 and 3. However, they are not complete,” he said. Khumalo added that the Grade 4, 6 and 6 learners has not received anything but like other schools, they will be sending a report to the circuit. A report, by former education director general, Ms Mary Metcalfe, found that, despite the extended deadline for the delivery of textbooks, namely June 27, the department’s claims that 98% of the books were delivered was incorrect. According to the report, 22% of the sample schools in the study were still waiting for textbooks to be delivered on 11 July.

BBEAG in need of financial boost TK Mashaba The Bela Bela Education Advocacy Group (BBEAG), a group of people who are working hard to boost education in Bela Bela, is in need of a boost themselves. Some of the BBEAG members were actively helping during the two week long winter schools in Bela Bela as volunteer tutors. BBEAG Marketing & Sponsorships Coordinator, Mr Tshepo Matjila said in statement, “We have, over the past few months, received numerous requests to help worthy learners with registration fees and needy learners with financial support. We have decided to write a small note to clarify a few things.” “Ordinarily BBEAG would, without blinking, support needy and worthy learners and students with financial support, but we are facing severe financial constraints as most of our financial backers are themselves facing one financial problem or another,” Matjila explained. “This problem is obviously exacerbated by the global liquidity crunch which defines much of modern day Europe and America. BBEAG, as a rule, usually rewards learners at the beginning of the year based on principal and teacher recommendations, as we did this year through our BBEAG Kick-start Program. We are not even sure if we would be able to do so in 2013,” he said. “We are working hard on many other financial plans to help improve our ability to help Bela Bela’s needy and deserving and, should something come up, we will be sure to help many other people who look upon as their last beacon,” Matjila promised in the statement. nator of the BBEAG said that the global financial crisis had a very strong impact on all non-governmental organisations (NGO). He said that the lack of financial resources has a direct impact on all NGO’s as agents of change. The crisis also hit the BBEAG, as an educational NGO, very hard. “The situation with the National Lotteries Board has not been any kinder to us either, as we have been waiting for possible funding from 2010. We are running BBEAG-light right now, meaning many of our programs are grossly under-funded and we constantly rely on innovation and members’ charity to continue with some programs like Afternoon Tutor Classes and Vacation School Programs. We, therefore, regret but we cannot support many worthy learners and students who come to us for financial assistance at the moment, as we lack the means and wherewithal ourselves, to conduct many of our pressing and much-needed programs,” Makhubela said. The BBEAG promised to continue to share information related to bursaries and internships from various organisations and they urge their friends to email information on the subject to matjilat@bbeag.org.za or to collaborate with them to support some of the learners who desperately need help. Alternatively, friends of the BBEAG could make donations BBEAG bank account at FNB, 62264504509, Centurion branch. The BBEAG ask that donors use their name organisation name as reference. “We wish all the learners/students all the best in their endeavours to get an opportunity to study — because, ultimately, we believe Bela Bela will be the main beneficiary of our charity,” Matjila said.

Charity walk for Education reaches thousands of children in Africa The six man crew of the initiative, Walk for Education, has nearly completed their 2 300 km walking route through Africa. This 2 300 km walk from Windhoek to Maputo is a project of Mamma-Afrika Hampers & MAfrika Projects and had commenced on Wednesday, 20 June, in Swakopmund in Namibia. Schools in Namibia as well as Botswana were visited and nearly R15 000 writing essentials and teaching aid were

distributed along the way. The main objective of the walk was to make people aware of the educational difficulties some schools experience. The two co-founders of Mamma-Afrika Hampers & MAfrika Projects, Messrs Jacques Buys and Dana Louw, did the walking.“We will walk all the way, to share in the pain of the thousands of children that have to walk up to three hours to get to the nearest school daily. They have the drive and we want to sup-

port them in providing some educational materials,” Louw said in an interview with The Post. Louw is an old learner of Hoërskool Warmbad and is currently living in Bela-Bela. The educational walk brought Louw and Buys through Bela-Bela on Tuesday, 10 July. Next on their route were Settlers, Marble Hall, Groblersdal, Middelburg, Waterval Boven, Nelspruit and Komatipoort. Their walk will reach its conclusion today (Friday, 20 July) at Maputo

in Mozambique. “We have had some amazing experiences, met some great people and stayed at some awesome places. To were able to see the smiles on the faces of the children were priceless and made all the pain and sacrifice worth it.” Louw said. Simple Yellow FC status sale still on TK Mashaba Simple Yellow FC, the Mokopane based team, is still up in the air regarding their SAB Regional League status that is for sale. Mr Pat Monyepao, current owner of the team, said that two buyers showed interest in the team’s status, but that they have not been able to meet yet to work out the details. “They have shown interest, but since they have not charted the way forward, the status is still for sale,” he said. According to Monyepao, one of the potential buyers is from Lephalale, while the other contender is from the Capricorn District of Limpopo. Simple Yellows is a well-known team and played a tough tournament in the SAB Waterberg Regional League, finishing third on the league log. They also represented the Waterberg district in the Nedbank Cup district knock-

out. According to a regional South African Football Association (SAFA) official, Mr Mahlodi Molekoa, the owner of Simple Yellows, Mr Pat Monyepao, will be selling their status to any buying candidate who can meet the selling bid. Molekoa said that Monyepao is looking to sell the team’s SAB status for R16 000. Monyepao is selling his stake in the team, because he will be spending most of his time in the Capricorn district. Simple Yellows is one of seven Mokopane based teams in the SAB Waterberg League after Benefica FC joined their ranks after winning the Local Football Association (LFA) promotional play-offs. Mosesetjane All Stars, Yster United, Dynasty, Mokopane Stone Breakers, Real Madrid, Simple Yellows and the newly promoted Benefica FC all represent Mokopane in the Waterberg league.

LEAD THE WAY

The soccer off-season is usually a time for team owners of the Local Football Associations (LFA), the South African Breweries (SAB) Regional League and the Vodacom League to sit down and plan for the new season that starts in August. Mosesetjane All Stars FC, champions of the SAB Waterberg Regional League in the last season, shocked fans when they announced that their SAB status, like that of Simple Yellows, was for sale. The surprise did not end there. Mr John Molomo, owner of Mosesetjane All Stars, told The BEAT that he was thinking of buying the Vodacom side, Dinare FC. Dinare FC also announced recently that their Vodacom status was for sale. “I am expecting to finish the transaction between myself and Dinare FC management during the course of the next week,” Molomo said. Dinare FC is one of the more contro-

versial teams in the Vodacom League. They hail from Gauteng, but were based in Modimolle during the course of the last season. Unfortunately, they did not have a very good season. Dinare Fc is the second team who relocated to the Waterberg after originally starting in the Gauteng region. Leventis FC also relocated to Bela Bela, but moved back to Gauteng after they encountered financial difficulties. They have since been kicked out of the SAB League for missing too many games. When The BEAT asked about the future of Mosesetjane All Stars FC, Molomo said that the team was for sale and that any interested buyers could call him at any time to negotiate. If someone outside Mokopane buys Mosesetjane FC and Simple Yellow’s, this will leave Mokopane with only five teams in the SAB Regional Waterberg League.

Thandekile Sibanyoni Volleyball players from Bela Bela, who represented Limpopo in an Inter Provincial Tournament (IPT) that took place in Durban KwaZuluNatal from Saturday 7 to Sunday15 July 2012, obtained the third position. Four provinces namely Western Cape, Limpopo, Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, and Eastern Cape as well as the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the South Af-

rican National Defence Force (SANDF) participated in the tournament. The tournament was divided into six categories between the younger players and juniors, both for boys and girls, and between the South African police services (SAPS) and the South African National Defence Force for senior women and men. The Limpopo players made the province proud by bringing home bronze medals for obtaining the

third position in the tournament. These players, from different volleyball teams in Limpopo, included nineteen members of the local Bela Bela team KOMPLITS. These players were selected to represent the province during an IPT for Limpopo that was held in Polokwane, Seshego, on Monday, 23 June. The KOMPLITS players had to pay for their own expenses because they did not receive any of the donations or sponsorships that they sought prior to departure.
